Infinite Spline full game freeze.
This may be related to the same bug @AndreAquila was reported about for their flex splines here: https://discord.com/channels/555424930502541343/1299408369718788219/1299408369718788219
I think the modder is @PiggyChu620 to Infinite Splines?
Pretty much while laying down rails and either go snap a rail to one already laid or sample from it and that sample tries to snap to the end I am pointing at... the game full dead lock freezes. It never recovers, it stops responding and the only way to close it is through windows task manager. No crash report is ever made from this, the game don't actually seem to crash, just flat out freezes. I tested this with the mods disabled and had zero issues with hours of play. Yet with it on, as I am laying down rail tracks it don't seem to take very long before I encounter this issue.

That is one example. Using Infinite Splines I just tried to sample the rail and... that's it.... what you see in that shot is how my screen froze. Had to task manager to close the game, and again no crash report ever gets made. Note this don't happen all the time, it seems very specific yet as I am working on my around the world rail network I'm coming across this a bit more often then someone may casually laying tracks.
The common thing with each freeze is the same 'track is too short'. No idea if that has anything to do with it or if its just how it happened to be in each shot as it is a very sudden and instant freeze. But it does always seem to happen if I am aiming at the edge of an already placed rail and either sampling from it and it instantly trying to snap, or placing a rail from my hotbar. I wish it made some sort of crash report but there is nothing, the game acts just as it would had you closed it down normally... just... force quitting it.

Thanks for the detailed report, can you try to dial down the Rail Max Length under Mod Savegame Settings and see if it still freezes, please?
I have the same problem Aquila has: Unable to recreate the freeze.
So please try it out for me, much appreciated!
@PiggyChu620 Sorry not gotten back sooner. the day was busy. Yes I did cut the max length down to 0.3km, that's roughly 300meters in game and still ocashenally get these random freezes. This here is again where it froze, stolid dead stop and waiting did nothing. Game was shown as not responding in task manager and had to be forced quit.
Could it be that rails like belts were changed in how they are rendered or loaded? Like what the devs did to change bents to performed better? Are these rails just an edit of the old rails or did it take on the new setup? Maybe a conflict?
It's OK, thanks for your test.
I wouldn't know, the code is hidden from us, and I didn't install any decompiler or anything, so all I can do is "guess" what might be the cause and try from there.
That is a shame.. I love this mod as the longer track lengths let me make much smoother curves. The only thing that be better is if it was less picky about curves being 'too sharp' for some freaking reason in some cases even if it allows them to still go in the exact place if the tracks split into smaller segments. I know Anders mod allows it but as I share my map with friends and such, I don't use mods that 'add' custom stuff to it.
Oh, I have noticed its also doing this randomly. It's adding these random switches in the middle of strate tracks that don't 'look' like switches until you atach one to it. two side by side do this. this is popping up too and track leanth don't seem to matter. this is an oddity that was also noticed in update 8.
Thanks for liking my mod, I could add Mod Savegame Settings to change the "max climb" if you want. 😊
Sorry I don't quite understand wdym.
max climb and max turn would be very handy. As for the switch... its hard to explain really. Like as I am laying out track, and go to snap one rail to another, it seems to act as if more then one rail is attached, creating a 'switch' even though its a single rail. This is a screen shot from Update 8 in a wip part showing off how I laid my rail pathing down... and someone pointed out the arrow switch randomly along the way. It's like it created a ghost connection to the rail beside it as running a train along it made it glitch out and teleport to the other rail.
Can you record a short video for me please? It's harder for me to understand by just an image.
I'll try when it starts poping up.
max climb, and also the turn radios. Nothing is more annoying then getting a 'turn is too sharp' nonsense trying to lay a rail in one peice, yet split it into two or three along the same exact path and it works. Maybe even.. a min length? Instead of the min being a foundation and a half, to be able to make it shorter? it would def help with blueprints that's for sure. Instead of wasting a foundation in a half on the edge just to make a snap point. as is I need to go yet ANOTHER Bp designer size up just to account for needing these 'snap point' rails and how long the min length needs to be for them. I could do this design in a size designer smaller if not for this.
OK, let me look into it
I have added the Max Climb and Min Bend to the Mod Savegame Settings, please update it, also, please check if it still freezes for me, I can't test it because I could never recreate the freeze.
As for the other problem, I've to be honest that I'm not quite sure what it is.
I'll test it out. as for the switch issue. If I get a point where it pops up. I'll move the hub near an instance and send you the save. I tried recording and my system makes it into a 1fps slide show and is crazy x.x
OK, thank you very much.
So there is a critical issue with your mod. Tipically when dragging out objects like belts or rails and there's no valid ground for it to render on it well, don't render. But yours welp, The rail shoots off to infinity and beyond causing huge lag and in time a lock up.
acually yeah belts do the same. vrooommm
OK, I'll look into it, thanks.
