Suit is WAY too baggy around the waist... Can I fix this?
I have a 40/30 chest to waist ratio. I saw a 40 short suit on sale and got excited. The chest is a perfect fit but I am SWIMMING in the waist and trousers. How much can I fix this?

It’s honestly easier to see with static pics than moving around so much. Neutral pose front, sides and back.
This suit looks small to me tho. The shoulders seem tight
My chest is more like a 42. But if I buy a suit made for that everything else looks absolutely ridiculous.

Also you can tailor other stuff in without much issue. Making stuff bigger is a toss up. Waists, sleeves, etc can be taken in but chest and shoulders are much harder
The pants need the waist taken in a little and maybe the back rise reduced slightly.
The jacket has some issues in the shoulders that I’m frankly not good enough to diagnose. I think overall too small at the top tho.
You might want to go made to measure and get fitted in person
Bulging of the lapel isn’t good. I’m not sure what’s causing it here
Too tight under the arm pits and pulling across the upper back tell me it’s too small
Lots of pulling and tightness in the armpits again it looks like
Suits should have clean lines. You probably want a nipped waist and structure in the shoulders. Lemme see if I can dig up a pic
I think I might try for natural shoulders.
I scrolled thru like 2 years of tailoring photos to find this and it’s not as illustrative as I had remembered it lol
Do you have a particular reason? I think this is the wrong call
I'm planning to drop a few more pounds so hopefully that fixes things somewhat.
I'm around 155 rn so I'm trying to get to 145
Buy clothes that fit your body now. Tailoring especially can be tailored to fit you as your body changes
If you do go from 155 to 145 you won’t know exactly how your body will hold the weight. Better to buy something you can definitely wear now than keep something you definitely can’t return later
