Reboot into a specific session (gamemode/KDE)
I know if can use
ujust _toggle-autologin
To toogle between KDE and steam game mode.
But is there anyway to do this for a single boot?
Like I want my next boot to be to KDE but everything after that steam game mode.Solution:Jump to solution
what i mentioned is the closest you can get unless you feel like rebuilding the steamos session manager

this has been asked a million times already and the answer is still the same
make a custom image
delete 2 files
disable 1 service
tada you now have a login screen where you can choose plasma session or "big picture mode"
all other methods breaks the steamos session manager
this is what you need to do when making the custom image
What I was looking for isn't a login screen
But a way go temporary change what sddm auto logins in to.
So basically I want the system to always load into KDE when turned on, but there be a way to reboot into steam game mode while still keeping the default at plasma.
The reason is when I first turn on my PC it's usually to do some work. And if I am rebooting the PC it's o get around some steam game mode bug like the artifacts here

Or the vram clocking issue that I think I made a post on but can't find it
As rebooting is the only way to solve either for me (both suspending and switching to desktop don't fix it)
So currently since it auto logins in to plasma
Everytime I reboot for the artifact bug I need to go through plasma first which has a 50% chance of causing the issues meaning I have to reboot sometimes upwards of 5 times before I can actually game
you cant

Yeahh looked into sddm to see if it has anything for this. You can specify an session to autoboot but it will always auto boot into that unless you manuall change it there no way to for example call sddm with a specfic session for that boot only.
