Style Check: RL jacket with brown trousers?
So I'm thinking of an outfit for tomorrow and I know it's going to be fairly cold, so I was thinking of taking this RL jacket. In terms of choice of trousers, I'm thinking of either the beige Carhartts or the beige Corduroys, but would either of them work with the jacket?

Try it on and see/post photos.

sometimes i crosspost in #waywt and #questions-and-advice lol it's no worries
carhartts look good from what i could see, i'm less sure about the cords but would try them on
Yeah. I'm mostly satisfied with the carhartts. Perhaps I could make the shirt underneath the jacket more neat but other than that it's fine. I'm not sure though if the cords look a bit like pyjamas 🤔
But yeah, I'll have to try it with the cords later.
imo the issue is going to be how to deal with the waistband of the cords/what to wear with it
stuff like a t-shirt or knit or hoodie might pair well with both but i'd try it on
Perhaps
I could perhaps try a t shirt that I could tuck in or leave to hang over the waistband.
I wouldn’t tuck into an elastic waistband
ok 🤔
Does it weaken the elastic?
It looks bad
ah
yeah, i was thinking of chinos/cords as a jean replacement

well, not a replacement but using them similarly to jeans
but yeah, i'll leave it untucked
i'm also thinking of t-shirt color, so far i'm thinking of matching the color of the jacket or a simple white tee.

i could also try a hoodie
i've got a dark blue PRL one I like
The chinos are a fine replacement for jeans
The thing with those corduroy ones is that the details (elastic waist, elastic cuffs, skinny fit) make them more like a sweatpant alternative
So they would work better in casual athleticy type fits rather than as a swap for jeans
hmm, yeah, when I scanned the QR code that Ralph Lauren has for it's clothes, the product page says they're corduroy joggers.
Yeah they are definitely jogger sweatpant types
Would work with t shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts though, (and trainers rather than boots)
Could they work in a casual context (going to university)?
Yeah deffo
In my engineering classes probably about 80% of people were wearing joggers at any one time haha
hah, but yeah, cool
I've got a pair of grey Nike joggers
So far I've only used them for Wii Fit Plus jogging.
I got them because they had a zippable pocket which I thought would hold the Wii Remote more securely.
turns out the zippable pocket was more deep than I was expected, but the opposite pocket worked well for holding the Wii Remote without it falling out.
I haven't taken joggers to uni yet, but I could try that out
🤔
If I was to later decide that I want to get cords-as-jean-replacements, what should I look for?
(I'm not looking to buy now though, I've obviously got enough)
I'd look for ones that are in a trouser-like cut / shape. And a straight leg (not slim or skinny). Lemme find some example pics
First two have pleated fronts, which makes them fit looser around the top but that's just a stylistic choice. Notice though they have jean or chino-like pockets, and belt loops, a zip or button fly, etc. Current trend is straight leg without too much of a taper as well so they're not too skinny around the ankles
And anything from brown to light beige or sand colour is a classic for cords
Here I've got the jacket & the corduroys and a grey t-shirt.
The t-shirts also PRL so technically I'm covered head to toe in Ralph Lauren, lol :xd:
imo they work with the jacket (maybe hide the drawstring imo)
i would get into the thinking of whether an outfit works as a whole - clothes, shoes, and accessories - rather than just whether piece A goes with piece B
Ok
Unrelated; 🥲
But yeah
It's certainly something for me to practice :linkBow:
For context, I got it from TK Maxx
hmm
how could i effectively practice this? 🤔
actually i might have just answered my own question lol
coming up with full outfits
Ok
So what I'm thinking tomorrow
The jacket, a black or navy t-shirt, and the Carhartts
Should work here
