Finding a style
So recently, I've been doing a few things to help start to get a sense of fashion style. I've been saving images from #waywt and #inspiration into a folder on my Mac, and I've also been putting some pictures on an Instagram collection. Yet, Instagram still primarily shows me cat pics and I'm not sure if I'm on the right track when it comes to finding a style I like. It's still pretty blurry for me.
What else could I do to help on this journey of finding a style?

some people have really great Pinterest boards, that’s good visual inspiration. Magazines and films are good inspiration as well, a bunch of films / tv shows been mentioned in the topic of the day channel. I also look at brand websites and see how they style their clothes in the product photos or online lookbooks. I’ll link some that i like / that are commonly talked about here

Good article
oh also the teenage gentlemen’s blog posts
in that vein
And a previous Topic of the Day about that article if you want to read through and see how some other users related and added their perspectives https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1235984218715066488/1235984218715066488
These are good resources, and it sounds like you're off to a good start. It's also important to just practice putting outfits together. Try out different things and look in a full length mirror or take a pic and see how you like it and how it compares to your inspo. Even more important than that is to be patient and take your time. As is mentioned in the articles linked above, finding out your style also means exploring who you are and this is not always a fast and easy process. But keep having fun with clothes and you'll learn a bit more with every new outfit you put together
Yeah and don’t be in a rush to buy a bunch of stuff quickly, that pretty much never goes well at the beginning. and secondhand is your friend, specifically ebay or local thrift stores
Gather a collection (of pictures) of things you love, then think about how you might wear them. Finds something that will work in a few outfits for you, don't rush.
Understand that you will buy some stuff you later realise you don't love as much as you thought you might
Thanks for the advice so far
🤔
I do use Pinterest for school work, and I can see how I could use it for this purpose too
Could I just make a new board & search for a bunch of stuff I have?
Or is there a better way I could go about starting this?
Yeah you could make a new board and search certain terms to find things you might like. Are there certain styles or looks you gravitate towards? pictures would be great to help figure out search terms

Hmm
I'm thinking of how I could go about finding a cohesive style on Pinterest.
Tbf, I just need to go & do it.

Working on it
🤔
What should I be adding from here? Stuff that I like the look of?
It's your pinterest board, you should add whatever you want!
First collect a bunch of inspo. then try to find common themes in it later
Got it, thanks

Ok
I've got an inspiration board which I'm starting to add to.
It's a start at least
Do I just keep adding to it or could I try making outfits with what I've got so far?
i would assume its the latter
lol
:bloberm:
there isn't a good answer to that
i intentionally go out looking for inspo every so often and i am constantly adding to it incidentally
just do whatever feels good and don't spend too much money all at once
thanks
