Flickering on held blocks and dropped blocks
Blocks in hand and dropped blocks have a flicker where they seem to change lighting on their faces, even when the camera is not moving at all. This happens even with daylight cycle off, so it's nothing that's actually changing in the world.
My mod pack is on Minecraft 1.20.1, using Fabric, Sodium 0.5.11, Iris 1.7.5, Distant Horizons 2.3. I'm using Bliss shaders and the issue doesn't happen with shaders disabled, so I'm guessing it's not a vanilla bug. I haven't yet tested all possible combinations but this bug seems to be recent to me, I haven't noticed it before.
Does this look familiar to anyone?

does it happen with other shaders, without other mods, without DH?
It does not happen with DH disabled. I've tested all the settings of Bliss, including debug views for direct and ambient light and the one setting that appears to alleviate this is turning down the shadow render distance, entities no longer flicker, just some strange lighting on the hand remains.
With DH, you want mountains to obstruct the sun properly so you'd naturally tend towards high render distances in shader settings. I guess until we get shadow cascades and other optimisations, turning it down "until you no longer have obvious issues" is the way to go. I can test with other shaders, there were few compatible ones last time I tried.
your shadow settings; either your shadow distance is too high, or your shadow resolution is too low. What your seeing is the shadow map sampling slowly fading between pixels as the sun rotates
I said it's still happening with the daylight cycle stopped so it's not related to sun movement at all.
I've just had this bug randomly resurface, it very noticeably also happened with placed chests, that's where I noticed it. This time, lowering shadow distance does not seem to help at all
