FPS drops
when I look towards the sun with shaders, the fps is normal
and when I turn away from it, the FPS drops 2-3 times
and regardless of the shaders and in which direction the sun is

How to find crash reports and logs
It is recommended to upload your logs to https://mclo.gs then paste the link into Discord to automatically censor potentially sensitive information and help us diagnose issues more efficiently. However, you may also drag and drop the file directly into Discord.
Logs can be found in the logs folder inside your .minecraft directory. We are probably interested in the one named latest.log.
Crash reports can be found in the crash-reports folder inside your .minecraft directory. We are probably interested in the most recently created one.

In of itself I am very much unable to replicate this behavior having used Iris on NeoForge myself

disable shadows fix this isussie on any shaders, but why
And this happens with only Sodium and Iris as well?
yes, i tried to disable all mods, but it happens anyway.
there is also this problem on fabric
I didn't notice this before 1.21.1
That's quite strange
I wonder if this is possibly something related to the hardware being used, after all you got a mere 3570K and 1060 but then again it shouldn't be that bad
yes, on 1.20.1 it works perfectly, withoud fps drops, but 1.21.1 unplayable
also tried downgrading to NF 21.1.65?
this problem is similar in fabric, I doubt it will help, but now I'll try
Yeah I can't really tell, although there were some reports of people facing issues as well
The specific reason as to why I couldn't tell you
another potential solution would be to downgrade gpu drivers
https://www.techpowerup.com/nvcleanstall/ being the recommended tool for such task
hmm, before testing the new iris, I inserted several different nvidia graphics cards into my PC, maybe that's why it behaves like this, I'll try, thanks
You never ran DDU?
ddu?
Display Driver Uninstaller
no, i just run geforce expirience and update drivers
it's designed to wipe the currently installed display drivers in order to ensure a clean state, as one would want for swapping the gpu
NVCleanstall has similar functionality
There's a good chance your gpu drivers are kinda fucked
most likely, because I tested cards starting from 550ti and ending with 2060, it probably made a chaos in the system. Although other games work fine
Try out NVCleanstall first by following the instructions on the page like not closing the installer during the process until its completely finished
it's normal for fps to get worse when you look away from the sun. It has something to do with shadow culling iirc
correct; this is expected. When you are looking towards the sun, the shadow map only needs to render what is between you and the sun. When you look away from the sun, it now needs what's between you and the sun again, as well as everything in front of you.
shitty diagram. yellow/orange = sun/light; blue = player/camera; purple = shadow map
yes, but in 1.21.3 it works again without FPS drop, I think there was some incompatibility with my hardware or a bug.
