Getting this error while trying to open SMM. I have already followed the steps to downgrade to update 8, although not sure if it worked, since I am still getting news about the 1.0 update ingame. Any help would be appreciated!

I have already downgraded to update 8 using the steps in the thread, although not sure if it worked?
Officially, downgrading isn't supported here. This thread has a lot of relevant dialogue though https://discord.com/channels/555424930502541343/1286310372378284052
I think a step people often miss is renaming the .exe
already renamed it, game starts but im getting the news about the 1.0 patch ingame
yep that's 1.0
so the downgrading didnt work then?
they have different menu screens
nope
I followed all the steps, it should have worked?
only thing I can think of, is when copying over the text files, I told it to replace the files in the destination. is this wrong?
no that sounds like what you're supposed to do
all I can really recommend is going through the process again
these are the files I have
but going through the whole process again, including downloading the depot again?
Yes, your copy is 1.0, so you need to download u8 from the depot
aight, thanks
@sjhoward3 I delete all the game files except the 3 text documents. do I also copy over the 3 text docs from the depot or only the other files?
only the others, I believe - I've never done it
well, I tried and it didnt work
did you shut off steam?
before launching?
Your best bet is to read carefully through here to see if anyone else has solutions for you.

Likely your manifest files were updated by steam to the 1.0 versions again, which are formatted and look different hence why that 2 install error occurs in SMM.
I've not done it myself so after this I won't be able to answer any questions but I've heard
* Download the U8 version
* Quit all the way out of steam (not just minimized, quit)
* Replace everything and the manifests in the steam folder
* Run smm - change off compatible because SMM does not support downgrading. You can still download mods but it will say all the mods are broken. Just check to make sure they were updated after U8 came out
* Close ssm
* Make a shortcut to the SF exe
* Add the No steam or Offline flag whatever it is to the launch arguments
* Run SF directly from the shortcut without turning on steam
Good luck.
you add -NoSteamClient to the end of the target of the shortcut with a space before the -
That one.
why is your game so wide
uw monitor
closing this since 1.0 mod support is out now
