Burberry shirts and brown Carhartt Chinos? 🤔

So I've ordered a bunch of stuff from Vinted recently including 2 shirts from Burberry, and some Chino pants, including a brown pair. I would like to know if the shirts would match alright with the trousers or if other trousers would be more suitable.

do they "match", yes fwiw brown shirts go with a number of pant colors - blue (denim), white and off white, olive and green, dark red, purple, etc - what is "suitable" is up to your personal taste

zeo is exactly right. I just want to add: color matching should not be your only concern. I know you've mentioned you're just starting to pay more attention to how you dress recently, have you started an inspiration album yet? Do you have some images of outfits you love or styles you want to try?

Not yet.

Then I'd recommend browsing thru #inspiration , #waywt , instagram, tiktok, pinterest, etc. It can be easy to fall into the trap of making purchases because you've found "good deals", but it's never a good deal if it doesn't suit your actual needs or the direction you want to take your wardrobe.

I've decided to start with Instagram.

A few posts I found from Burberry and a styling video. It's something to work on for sure

I would gently suggest don't be steered by brands and look at what actual people are wearing - for example in #waywt This might help you narrow down styles you like, rather than specific branded items (eg burberry check etc). It's fine to like these of course - but they don't always make a cohesive style, especially the way they can be advertised.

Ah, ok

going off what people are wearing is also a way to learn about brands. you might find a new brand is a better fit for your tastes than burberry, for example

I spent a bit of time searching through the mens fashion query on Instagram.

There's a few things I've noticed about my selection of pictures. It's mainly jeans but also with chinos. Some common colors too, blue, brown, white. It's mainly a fairly casual look at this point.

it's a rather normcorish look really recommend #waywt as variants on this style are common, especially in terms of fit (not everything is super tight on the body)

also: take your time. My prompt wasn't for you to compile a comprehensive inspo album in a single afternoon. Developing your style is going to take a long time. Right now, consuming fits and figuring out exactly why you like them is the most important thing. Just as a visual aid, all of these fits use jeans but stylistically they require different approaches. And these are just from my inspo album, you can go 100 different directions with jeans alone.

It's effectively meaningless to say "I like jeans" is my point here lmao

plus jeans can be worn in so many different ways - this is the same pair and all the fits generally fall within the umbrella of "fairly casual"

Thanks for the advice so far. I'll continue to work on getting fits for my fashion inspiration.

I've also made a folder on my Mac to save inspiration photos.
