why can i not get social network avatar?

You are currently logged in with third link (phone number/e-mail), they are not social media platforms so you cannot get social avatar from these login methods. Try log out of third link then login via Facebook instead.

Try login with Google play/Apple ID
my google play is linked to another account
Try logging in with a different login and then again with Facebook. Hope it gets resolved with this.
U could also try Twitter
