distant horizons config button missing (NOT DISABLED IN tmol FILE)
my distant horizons configuration button is missing from my settings menu. i launched the game (beta 1.20.1 version of iris) after not playing for a while, and the button was there. i wanted to install a mod (do a barrel roll) and so i decided to download and install the 1.21.1 version of dh and the barrel roll mod, but after i booted up the game, the button is gone and the game isn't rendering more than 10 chunks for some reason, please help!

What installation are you launching? If it’s iris-fabric-loader (Iris & Sodium for X Minecraft version) it only has sodium and Iris. You need to launch Fabric or NeoForge to use other mods
Also make sure you have the in-dev version of Bliss from https://github.com/X0nk/Bliss-Shader/archive/refs/heads/main.zip @Calvin
what other mods should i use?
i'm launching fabric 1.21.1 (because i also installed do a barrel roll mod)
i launched it and it did not have the dh button
this is what the mods folder currently looks like
@Slooshie
also the shader i'm running is bliss shaders
Unable to replicate in a fresh 1.21.1 Fabric 0.16.5 instance with the current latest Sodium, Iris and Distant Horizons downloads available on Modrinth
even with the other three added, button remains present
Are you certain about having installed Distant Horizons in the first place?
How do I make the mod file visible like in the image? 🤔
using the Prism Launcher, I also download mods with it
yes, i installed distant horizons using the installer provided in the dh github\
DH uses GitLab, and it doesn't have any installers that I can see. Whatever you got is not legit
and your mods folder is literally missing distant horizons
get DH from https://modrinth.com/mod/distanthorizons and put it in your mods folder like you would any other mod
this brought the button back but the problem persists
chunks don't load far away, just the vanilla way
there's also a ton of error messages in my chat
Update your Bliss shader first of all
ok, how do i do that?
.
i installed the correct shader but the error messages and chunk loading errors persist
You can ignore that. It’s the old grass being converted to the new one
what about the chunk loading?
Looks fine to me
Increase the CPU load if you want it to be faster
how do i do this?
can this be fixed by increasing cpu load?
can i disable these messages then?
how can i do that?
In DH settings, to both questions
can i increase cpu load in dh settings?
self-explanatory, the option is there
Had you checked the settings you would know
which option in logging should i disable in order to hide grass conversion messages?
i'm sorry, i'll do so
I don’t know
is there way to fix the shimmering in the distance?
in the distance, there are patches of blocks that flicker
never experienced this behavior myself
Does this occur with shaders disabled?
yes
i think i may have a solution
does dh or iris run with optifine instead of sodium?
i can't adjust mipmap settings in sodium
There's no support for Optifine
are you sure?
yes
i'm unable to adjust mipmap type or antialiasing settings
What GPU and OS?
rtx 3060
windows 10
driver version 561.09?
hold on, is this flickering you described like fuzz?
static
kind of
as i move, in the distance, there appear to be jagged lines flickering back and forth
this
yes, but more severe
i'm sending a recording with my problem
I only get it with Bliss
hard to tell if this can really be fixed
You could bring it up on their discord but I doubt there's much to do against it
using Complementary 5.3 with Euphoria Patches manages to minimize the effect
however one thing of note is me not experiencing any log spam of sorts
it's fine
you guys fixed my initial problem, so big thanks for that
thanks for also staying patient with me, i'm not great with technology and having come back from not playing definitely doesn't help
thanks a lot guys
As long as it made you learn a thing or two, that's all I really care for
check ur nvidia settings ?
iirc its because u change something in nvidia control panel
The flickering is normal. It’s because you don’t have any sort of TAA or another antialiasing
This happens in vanilla too
is it not fxaa ?
nvm
Any sort of shader likely improves it because the most popular shaders have a built in AA
what do i enable in the invida control panel to stop this?
my game looks pretty horrible right now, the jungle off in the distance and a bit of the mountain are just grainy oceans
i'm also not playing on modded minecraft w/dh, it's feather client w/sodium
but the flickering is really bad it looks like specs of sand across my display
First thing to check is for incompatible resource packs
When I had this issue the worst, I found out that it was because of a bad pack
first of all I wouldn't recommend using Feather. It causes lots of issues
Second, there's no issue in the video. If you don't like the graininess then get a shaderpack that has anti-aliasing
You could increase the resolution of the game to the resolution of your monitor
i'm going to try that right now, thanks!
i switched from badlion as it had really bad graininess in the distance
lunar is a hard no for me because i need to set the framerate to vsync otherwise unbearable tearing will occur, and even if i set it to vsync, there are random frame drops for some reason
what do you recommend?
do you mean a shader that will make my game look like it has realistic lighting?
are there any options that don't have realistic lighting that just correct this issue?
the problem persists, unfortunately
Clients
Hacked clients, PVP clients, optimization clients, etc. are problematic for multiple reasons, particularly when it comes to mod compatibility. You may run into issues like rendering glitches or crashes due to their built-in modifications to Minecraft. They are unsupported by Iris and are not recommended. Instead, we recommend using a launcher that does not modify Minecraft itself, such as Prism Launcher, Modrinth App, or even the vanilla launcher from Mojang. You can find a list comparing trusted launchers at https://mc-launcher.tayou.org.

Vanilla lighting, it will mitigate 95% of the issue
doesn't work with distant horizons
I think the solution here is to ignore the flickering if he wants to have normal lighting
Or not use DH
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
it works great, thank you!
i'll just switch it out for bliss shaders when i play with dh
No problem!
Have fun and nice name and pfp
thank you!
you as well
