Repairing shoes
A few years ago (2 or 3) I hired a cobbler to make me a pair of derby shoes. They were pretty good but my massive feet destroyed them. They are too stretched out and don't lace up well anymore, hurt to wear. Is there anything a cobbler would be able to do to repair them or do I need to get new shoes? Is there something I should be doing to keep shoes nice or is 2-3 years just a reasonable lifespan.

Can you go back to the original guy?
(or girl!)
Seeing pics of the shoes would help.
I have to admit im confused. If they were pretty good but your massive feet destroyed them then they were most likely too small.
Did you wear them every day?
Frankly, most local cobblers are not exactly great at shoemaking, because cobbling and shoemaking are two adjacent but not identical expertises and also they rarely do it if at all.
Its like getting a MTM suit from a local alterations tailor
Normally quality leather shoes can last a really long time if cared for correctly.
So either you did something wrong or the shoes were shit.
