Jean
What are some good brands for jeans ~$75 or less? I am also struggling finding a good style as well. I'm 6'0 164lbs. Slight belly. I havent worn jeans since I was about 275lbs and had to wear relaxed straight in a stretch fabric because of my thighs.

Wranglers or levis on sale
What fit type?
For 75 bucks Old Navy
Can't tell you what to buy without an idea of what style you're dressing in or want to dress in
depends on your preference - i own 501s, 505s and 550s and they all vary slightly but work depending on the outfit
might help to get an idea of how you dress/want to dress
ideally with pictures (use #waywt or #inspiration if needed)
This is for a casual everyday wear. Mostly with t-shirts, hoodies, etc.
Also, this is my leg shape wearing a size medium jogger
Slightly wide or true straight-leg jeans are the meta right now if you care about that kind of thing
I just want something casual that looks normal
Can’t go wrong with 501s
Yeah I think maybe a straight is the way to go. Though I do enjoy a slightly fitted fit
I kinda want to look at other brands too and have been looking at LuckyBrand, Dearborn, and Everlane
Any thoughts on them?
I'd rather just get Levi's (esp. vintage) over those
Why's that?
Lee has their regular straight in selvedge on deep discount right now too:

That's a nice jean. I've read that leg openings should be between 7-9" but most I've seen are in the 14-17" range listed on websites. Am I missing something here?
eBay - Lee, Levi’s, wranglers
7-9in straight across, the actual circumference would be 14-18 (straight across doubled)
the 7-9" might be the horizontal width, which you would double to get the leg circumference
there’s no hard/fast rules about leg openings, it’s just a matter of how wide you want.
If you do want to follow silly rules: Lee measures the circumference, of their leghole and that 7”-9” number is the diameter
goddamnit
Now I just look silly repeating what you said but in more words 😭
for perspective, levis vintage 501, 505 (orange tab) and 550 from lightest to darkest
it is probably worth trying on any jeans in person to see what kind of size and fit you specifically like
Is there anything wrong with stretchy denim?
the elastane in the fabric will genereally cause the jeans to wear out faster than 100% cotton
wrangler is another good brand if you want to brand out from levis but again, it's worth trying on in store especially stuff like the cowboy cut with its higher rise
Vintage Levis/Wranglers as people have said, but also as a fellow tall fella, Edwin on sale/second hand
There are no good retail price jeans in that price bracket except for Uniqlo
How about Abercrombie 90s Straight/ Loose? (compared to Levi's)
I'm trying not to go the 2nd hand market but these arre all great suggestions.
for your specified price range you should be considering secondhand
I haven't bought a pair new since 2019, but I think Wrangler cowboy cut are still pretty good and they're $50
Not here they aren't 😭
I’m just nervous about it. I’ve never bought 2nd hand clothes before so I don’t know what good deals are, what to look for, make sure the clothes aren’t damaged, etc.
also you're gonna want to go secondhand and get older levi's, the current era QC is not great
there's a few guides in #fashion-guides about what to look for specifically but it's not the hardest thing in the world to shop secondhand
for jeans you're mainly looking for signs of crotch wear/crotch blowout and any (unintentional) rips/holes especially near seams
the brand recommendations upthread still apply, you're just looking at places like goodwill or other thrift stores, or on ebay/depop/etc
i would focus less on how much of a "deal" you're getting and more how much you're willing to spend
and consider: if you've donated clothes you wore at 275, those had to go somewhere
Are there any brands in the $100 bracket I could find on sale to purchase new?
Wranglers
Seconding wrangler or Abercrombie’s loose cut (frequent site wide sales). But if, like me, you’re on a budget, secondhand shopping is really worth figuring out.
Where can I try on Wranglers and Lees at a store thats the same product as the online store?
There may be outlets near you but if you’re in NA most of these brands will have good online return policies
Take measurements of a pair of pants that fit you well (or close enough) and compare to the online size charts
This is the way
Why does naked and famous only sell 34 inseams? What do people do? Just have them hemmed?
Yep
Or cuff them
But usually they have them hemmed
Most raw denim/selvedge brands only make the pants in one long inseam
Guess it makes sense from an SKU/money perspective.
cheaper for the manufacturer to just manufacture one length and let the consumer decide how to deal with it
I’m finding Naked & Famous jeans on eBay for just under $100. How much could I expect to find other brands on eBay/Grailed going for? Like could I find 3sixteen for around that same price and not be ripped off?
I picked up some Edwina recently for like 30 quid so that seems reasonably doable unless its a particularly hyped brand/cut
You might get lucky with some 3sixteens if somebody had them hemmed and cant return them, worth a lowball if you come across them
Make sure you know what model you want though as they vary greatly
Yeah that’s the tricky part. Especially for me as I’m likely a size 32 in jeans and the last pair I owned was a size 40 in a relaxed straight because of my size
I just need to find a store to try on quality jeans to get an idea
With jeans, especially if you're looking at selvedge brands like N&F or 3Sixteen, you'll want to compare a size tha tfits to their own size charts.
I posted a fit in the 3sixteen cs220x today if ur lookin at those
Yeah like I said, I don’t have a size of pants that fit perfectly 😂 and I don’t want to purchase a pair just to measure. Or I can try and measure in a store dressing room. The only pair that fits perfectly is a pair of joggers
