How to install Iris and Distant Horizons
To use mods such as Distant Horizons and Iris, you must first install a mod loader. Fabric is most recommended, but NeoForge is also an option for 1.21.1.
After installing a mod loader, put the following mods in the mods folder of your .minecraft directory:
Fabric API (Not needed if you use NeoForge): https://modrinth.com/mod/fabric-api
Sodium: https://modrinth.com/mod/sodium
Iris: https://modrinth.com/mod/iris
Distant Horizons: https://modrinth.com/mod/distanthorizons
Note for 1.20.1 users: Iris 1.7 does not support Distant Horizons 2.2. You must either downgrade your DH version to 2.1.2 OR use the Iris 1.8 and Sodium 0.6 alphas from https://discord.com/channels/774352792659820594/883067831485366304/1268783422139142247

Use Iris 1.8.0 Beta 3 + Sodium 0.6.0 Beta 1 + Latest commit of DH from Gitlab (Normal or Serverside)
yes i have both versions of iris and sodium, i got DistantHorizons-2.2.1-a-1.21.1-neo-fabric" not sure how to get the one from gitlab to try that one but let me send a picture of what is happening when i run it
Are you using any other mods?
i have chunky-1.4.16, daycounter-1.21, dynamiclights-v1.8.3, tectonic-fabric since i was just trying those out i can remove them to see if that fixes something though
Remove chunky
We are on 2.2.2
DH 2.2.1 is outdated
Use latest commit.
That should be a problem though
On gitlab page go to artifacts or pipelines and there is on the first result the boton to download
https://gitlab.com/jeseibel/distant-horizons/-/jobs/7777705139/artifacts/download?file_type=archive
And latest Serverside "fork": https://gitlab.com/jeseibel/distant-horizons/-/jobs/7772144869/artifacts/download?file_type=archive
That is the latest nightly
First is the normal DH and the secod is the serverside
Yep.
Which is working with shaders using Iris.
alright let me try that out
You are suggesting to use a nightly build not a stable build when the stable build is also compatible with iris and has no errors or bugs
Latest nightly is more stable than latest stable, at least on serverside.
It is still not wise to recommend a nightly to a user who knows nothing of dh
So, play without shaders until next stable will be released.
I am pretty sure that dh 2.2.1 supports shaders
Yep, but using beta mod versions.
It's not recommended.,
And 2.2.1 have many bugs.
On 2.2.2 are solved.
Anyway, if you prefer stable releases simply wait until all stable mods will be released.
oh wow that is interesting what i thought was a bug was some weird world generation which still may be bugged
So if you go near that weird buggy terrain it is still buggy
yeah im trying to send a picture but cant find it but yeah it is just flat walls surrounding the spawn like the maze runner
then exploring outside of it, there is some decent hill generation then as the chunks load it does change a little
How weird does it happen on every world?
let me start one up and see
Just lemme know once you have loaded a new world
What is this of?
Running latest DH with shaders on 1.21.1
Why did you send this though because dh and iris are working?
Yep, because latest ver are working.
it was only that world that had the weird generated walls
sips coffee
Now what do we have here?
also do i use that fabric loader or iris-fabric-loader, the iris one is titled iris&Sodium for 1.21.1 but it wasnt letting me use the dh settings so i used the fabric loader but wasnt sure about that either
:ioa:
The profile with the name
Iris & Sodium
only runs Minecraft with Iris and Sodium without any other mods, assuming you don't tamper with the reserved directory.
It is advised that you use Fabric Loader
profile if you want to play with other mods.ah okay yeah that makes sense now for why one works and also looking at arphex's picture it is running the fabric loader
thank you guys for the help though i would not have figured any of this out without the help
Managed to get everything working fine?
Your welcome
yeah i believe so
Maybe walls are produced for a problem between Tectonic and DH. Using vanilla worlds with DH and then using Tectonic, on new world generation produces walls that then disappears while you fly on the world.
Creating new world with all mods active the issue not occurs.
As you can see on the picture, I also use Tectonic.
Anyway, Iris has nothing to do with it.
No iris doesn't have anything to do with the wall issue
haaving a similar issue
settings and mods
can someone pleae help
You are using an incorrect version of dh
what version should i be using
i put this file in the mods folder
and this shows up
Don't update just use the latest one from modrinth
i have DH rendering set to 1024 is it just that much?
DH 2.2.1-a
Iris 1.8.0 -beta4 mc 1.21.1
Complementary Unbound r5.3
this is with 2048
it takes a long time to load LOD chunks
even on my 7800X3D with CPU Load set to Aggressive, it barely got around 256 chunks after an hour or so
Go to 1024-2048 is ridiculous, best try with 128-256
