i am using oracle vm
Is the 25565 (or whatever port youre using) open?
it is
can you run
ufw status
(and show the output)yep
wait
inactive
so you can ssh into the machine, but you cant connect to it in mc?
are you unable to join still using <ip>:<port>
i can ssh into it
i cant join
i put the ip a
and
the port 25564
25565*
Oracle has a web firewall aswell
That needs to be modified
oh
ima tell my friend to make the necessary changes then. he just let me ssh into the vm
can you tell me what changes?
https://setup.md/guides/oracle-cloud should have it
setup.md
Oracle Cloud
A modified version of the guide produced by u/Belaboy1095969 on the Admincraft reddit using Ubuntu LTS.
👍
You need to add ingress rules to the subnet.
Instances -> click on instance -> subnet
Add ingress rules for 0.0.0.0/0 and destination port 25565
ok
thanks
i will let him know to do so
Hello I am his friend
I thought this was done already, but I'll check again. Thanks a lot 👍
Np, do that for any ports that need to be exposed
Like 19132 for geyser
And you should probably enable ufw for additional security
Yepp will look into that
hey uh
he opened the necessary ports
but i still cant connect
@Torrent
show me the ingress rules for the subnet
sounds like you and your friend aren't on the same page yet
can i show you through the terminal only?
no
doesn't work like that
oh gotta wait for him then
at least afaik
I added a network security group with 25565 open
I think the issue is with iptables
I had this before
send screenshot of ingress rules and iptables please
Will do
i just checked what i did yesterday, it was redundant. Someone had already added 25565 to the ingress rules somewhere else
but iptables looks fine too...
i completely removed all iptables rules, can you check now? @Deleted User
i shouldve realised this earlier... ive had this issue before 😅
yep wait
If you add the iptables again you need to add that rule ^
since ufw is active and oracle has its own firewall, i dont really need iptables too, right?
depends on the level of security you want lol, but no
cool then, ill look into it some time later
