Need recs for college "smart casual" oufits
Hi guys, i am about to start college in a few weeks and i need a beginner's guide to smart casual outfits. I am thinking of solid color polos tucked in with some relaxed chinos and T shirts with layered plain white/beige or light blue line shirt w same chinos.
what is the opinion on flannels or solid T shirts with layered linen shirts? do they qualify?
I have these inspo pictures, if anyone has recs, it would be helpful

out of curiosity is there an actual dress code for your school (or work) explicitly asking for "smart casual" attire?
flannels and layered tees read as more casual but a college class is a casual environment in most cases (also "smart casual" is a vague term)
pics of the actual flannel or linen would help but i think if you like them you should wear them
no, its not an actual dress code. I said smart casual cuz i dont want to just go in simple jeans and T shirts which i normally wear.
i was looking for college outfit recs that are a bit elevated from casual
smart causal is the term i saw alot
'elevated' in the sense that it's more formal or more interesting
pic 2 suggests 'more formal' and pic 3 suggests 'more interesting'
i just want to blend in. When i visited i saw ppl were wearing solid black or blue polo tucked in with chinos.
its a liberal arts college so i dont think clothes are restricted alot
the guides here would be enough to get you to smart casual https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1125076626665910332/1125079844804382811
however i would consider: this is a point in your life where you're kind of expected to figure out things about what you like and dislike and what you value
i can see the value in wanting to blend in and not get cast aside but being yourself, however that appears, is going to be more meaningful overall
as you read the guides (the guides say this, but i'll say it again) i encourage you to pay attention to what people are wearing - in #waywt or #inspiration or on social media or at your school
see what fits you like and dislike and why - you'll eventually find clothes that are good because you feel good wearing them, be they t-shirts, full suits or somewhere in between
thanks will check these out
You can never go wrong with a OCBD, wear it with chinos or raw denims.
What is this? 2013?
Aside from your whole personal fashion journey and all that, you can get polished basics like these at J.Crew, Uniqlo, and Brooks Brothers. Pretty much any mall brand.
