That’s not stored anywhere. Only the alarm radius is stored. I will be working on some other enhancements to the plugin next week. I’ll add that.

in my case.
i have separate (commercial) chain counter hardware and display. so i “piggyback ” across the signal from the windlass (every rotation it gives a pulse)) and usung an ESP32 i ingest that and other info into signalk. that is, i have chain counter hardware built on sensESP. here are some further details… i never got back to github to finalise the write up… but its installed and works well … alongside scotts anchor alarm plugin (its not used by the plugin, just seperately shows me “exactly” how much rode i have deployed) i display it on a phone that i use when im at bow anchoring/raising/lowering. https://github.com/gregsyoung/SensESP-Windlass-Monitor showing off the capabilities of scotts fantastic WSK and equally great anchor alarm plugin. Using an Old (VERY!) “disposable” Iphone, that i have “on my arm” whilst anchoring, this is the display and each of the guages that I can see … all v useful when either dropping or retrieving anchor.

“ chain out” comes from my sensESP based “windlass monitor” “anchored” comes from the plugin “signalk-autostate” …. that i augment with some nodered .. when i (auto detect) that i have dropped anchor Bearing to anchor and dist to anchor come from Scotts anchor alarm plugin. (as this wsk layout is only for when anchoring at the bow… i dont display alarm radius, wayoint/map etc)…

Gregy - I believe it is your code that I am trying to use for chain counter. I am using hardware I developed years ago but the display hardware went away when other parts of my system were upgraded using sensesp. It uses magnetic reed switch on capstan and inputs from the up down switch controlling windlass. Changed to feet, have units specified as "f" in meta data which may be part of my problem. The other part is that it appears lot of noise is coming in on inputs as my results are very eratic. Did not get a chance to put scope on it and will now be away from boat for 2 months starting next week. My anchor alarm is a cortex ais.

@DWinchester ok noted, not sure that the code on github is my latest. .. and you have probably modified anyway? i did have a few issues and updated my final in the sensESP , but didnt update github .. let me know … im on the boat very remote from home, but can possible VPN and retrieve it from my server .. no promises .. refremce hardware for “detecting” the pulses . i originally started with a FET and transistor circuit, that worked for a while then it blew the FEt i believe. Im now using an opamp comparator - to get a clean signal into ESP GPIO. my windlass/chain counter is fitted with a hall effect sensor that has weird signal pulse. .. you shoildnt have this issue with a reed switch. for detecting up /down “across the switches” .. in my case (likely yours) it operates a soleniod to control winch motor.. i used multi channel opto isolator module … to clean up and buffer the “switch” signals before ESP GPIO.. for certain there are nasty spikes from the solendoids! not sure if this is source of your “noise” …. depending on the “hardware” your using to detect …. and how your sensing … .. maybe noise on your ucontroller? power supply … threshold detection on the inputs? also,to note, depending on where your picking up voltage for your sense circuit… the winch motor when operating will for ceratin create a volt drop, and possibly “local noise” … that might create power supply issues.

You have hit on all my concerns. I wont be working on this for a couple months, I have to pay for my crusing time with travel my partner wants. I have been thinking of adding a dc to dc power supply to feed pi and esp32s. And I do have some opto isolator I can try to clean up signals. I could also try an opamp comparator, that is what I am using on tach inputs.

perfect .. it will be (one or more) of above I would guess.

FWIW .. this was the module i used for detecting the windlass rotation pulse (because i needed to adjust “out” some Dc bias … and set a threshold )
