Going to be in NYC for New York Fashion Week. What are some things I should check out?
My partner and I just happened to pick next weekend to visit New York, which just happens to be NYFW. It'll be our first time in the same city as a major fashion show. What should we check out? Do labels to sample sales and how do we find out about them?

What specific things are you looking for? New Clothes? thrifting? general NYC activities?
For thrifting the best option is all the hipstery neighborhoods in brooklyn for sheer concentration.
Steinway St in astoria has some good thrift stores (and food for when you're done)
Not that it's gonna be high fashion, but fashion tangential go to Macys in Herald Square and see the wooden escalators (plus they have good deals from time to time you might get lucky)
For NYFW most of the parties and all of the runway shows are invite only
You can check their website for events but there isn't a lot of menswear... Tom Ford usually shows but he isn't on the schedule this time

Amex sometimes sells tickets if you have a platinum card ($1500+/person)
Best thing to do for free is head to Soho and people watch... people usually dress up and you might see models or celebrities walking to different venues

New York: A menswear shopping guide
New York is a strange town for menswear. It doesn’t have the same traditional shops as Europe and bespoke is substantially undermined by visitors from Savile Row. If there is a tradition, it’s for value and department stores: low-priced suits at one extreme and glorified shop-in-shops at the other. ...
Thanks all! Yeah originally, I was thinking it would've fun if, for example, one could find out if Kent Wang had a special sample sale or event going on that people could attend or anything like. The links and suggestions offered are really good though, so will definitely add a few of those to the list!
Oo okay other idea for you - if it’s still on display (might not be) the Met usually has the clothing and stuff from the met gala could be a fun museum trip to do and get some inspiration
oh fun that's a great idea, i'll look that up!
