Black screen in desktop mode deck
after updating recenctly I noticed that desktop mode just shows a black screen (no cursor or anything) on my deck's screen
if I connect an external monitor everything displays fine there but the decks screen stays black

putting the deck to sleep then waking it up fixes the black screen :youwat:
rebooting gives me the black screen again when going into desktop mode. Puting it to sleep then waking it up fixes it. any ideas @Kyle Gospo ?

I rebooted again and I noticed the screen does work for a few seconds then it seems to "crash" but why would just that screen crash and not the external?It's normal

then yeah im not seeing anything. I do see some plasma crashes because of wallpaper engine but I have always had those and plasma should imediatily recover
hmm maybe it worth disabling wallpaper engine to see if that some how makes a diff doubt it

where you able to figure anything out ? stilll happening on every first boot of plasma after a few seconds of the desktop loading. ill try to get a vidnope, can't reproduce it
i set it up to autoboot plasma instead of the game session
not sure if you can hear it in the video but when I rapidly press the steam button it launches steam big picture mode and I can hear the ambient music I setup with decky

I think i had the issue also when at the default of booting big picture? let me double check
Nope still happens even when auto booting into the steam game mode first
Here I also put the deck to sleep then woke it up to show how that fixes the screen
opps the vid came out side ways lol
thinking about it wonder if it's something as simple as the brigtness getting lowered on startup for some reason though I guess it wouldn't go completly black like that

If your Steam Deck shows a blank screen when going to Desktop Mode then this is the easy fix for you.
You will need a USB keyboard for this.
1. When in Game Mode press CTL-ALT-F5 to open a terminal session.
2. Enter the username - deck
Enter your sudo password when prompt...
