Want to shorten my suit sleeves and the tailor said he can't clean up the decorative stitching

Is this normal? He said he will move the buttons up but leave the stitching there, because he said the fabric would probably be damaged by picking up the stitching.

Fake button holes I actually ended up telling him to just remove the buttons and leave the stitching, because that jacket is very casual and I actually prefer the buttonless look. I think the buttonhole stitch would be a interesting detail and probably better than just sewing the buttons into the wrong place😅

may be late for this one but another more complex option would be to remove the sleeves and shorten from the shoulder side.

it depends on the fabric and how the button hole stitching was done. I would listen to your tailor since he can physically look at it.

I think the tailor is just too lazy to do it, I just try to remove the stitching by a sim card needle and scissors. I think it can be done with damage the fabric too much.

"i think the tailor is just too lazy to do it" it does not benefit the tailor to pass up the added income because of laziness also i would get a seam ripper if you ever get the urge to do something like this again
