rear lead screw dropping

Hi i have just gone to do my very first print and after my last filament calibration the rear z screw dropped the back of the bed to 30° lower now when i wind it up manually it just drops back down again and it keeps doing it any ideas

triple check the bolts on the coupler holding the rod to the z motor sorry I misread. It only has this problem when the motor power is off?

Yeah its like the motor has no resistance to fight the weight of the bed ill attach a video now of how easy that particular screw is to turn

Just have to tickle it to spin it with motors disengaged and thats when its already dropped like this

its like that motor has no holding torque. Are the other Z motors that easy to spin?

No they spin but not like this one I suspect its either motor or driver possibly wiring but its printing right now so im going to take the whole system out when it finishes in a hr

Swap the rear motor for one of the front Z and see if the issue moves or not

Any ideas ill welcome

that'll narrow it down to the motor or the controller
Frugalmac

Well i was thinking could i not just pop the controller out and swap it
TheTik
TheTik4mo ago
true, that'd be even easier

Lol

But still, even with my (3.1) completely unplugged, the motors don't let go like that

So could be a short possibly
TheTik
TheTik4mo ago
nah, a short would make it harder to spin

On the same phase but on different phases according to tht article says it gets easier
TheTik
TheTik4mo ago
nope, read it closer. It stays the same if on different phases as if not shorted

Ah damn Stupid gary 😂
TheTik
TheTik4mo ago
it's saying it doesn't get harder by saying "as easy to spin as"

Ill try the driver and then if not drop the motor out iv had a really bad experience with this printer all the way 🤦🏼‍♂️😂

Sorry to hear that. I built this 3.1 back in January and it has been great the whole way

I love the printer its phenomenal now till i went to do my first functional personal print it was doing well sods law i guess Theres another guy having same problem on his 3.1 he never fixed it 😭😭

self driving leadscrews because "physics" is possible. A friction is to low to resist gravity problem. If powered off, this cannot be related to driver or motor, but is a mechanical "problem"

Clean out all grease on screw and inside top mount?

sounds insane, but yes. i can probaly sit ontop of the bed in my 400 without the screws moving. so it sound strange, but i know this is a known issue with ballscrews and heavy z-axis buy 24v motor brakes :kekw: (will cost more than the ldo steppers) swap the driver between axis, perhaps it built in function to short circuit the windings when powered off bend it, or overconstrain it with the top wooblywobbly idler or whats it called

Got any reccommended product links? Im assuming this is what ur using is it? Its just odd it was right after id just finished calibrating some abs so Im wondering whether the heated bed being on soo long and the chamber has warped something Iv tried swapping drivers next is to swap motors but ill clean out all the grease etc first to see if its just too slippy
