getting issue when launching after applying flags to new server

the other servers could be like 1.20.4
or some
( nvm my creative is 1.21 )
so yeah i swear it was workin the other day
java version is fetched using
java --version
in a terminal
1.21 is minecraft version
its 1.21

try remove the --nogui

seems like everytime i remove this it seems to cause issues
someone told me once to remove this , what does it do exactly?
