Iris failed to load shader!
I got the message
net.minecraft.class_2973: Invalid shaders/core/basic.json: Non [a-z0-9/._-] character in path of location: minecraft:basic_tessControl.tcs
When trying to load any shader.
My version is 1.21 using Fabric Essential and I have quite a few mods.20 Replies

How to get a log file:
Game logs can be found in the
logs
sub-directory in .minecraft on clients, or the logs
sub-folder of the server directory for servers. We're probably interested in the file named latest.log
, which you can drag and drop into Discord.Tag requested by hardester
It appears this is an issue with Euphoria Patches shaders. Forward this to the developer if you have contacts for them.
Got rid of euphoria patches and all, but still is giving me issues
net.minecraft.class2973: Invalid shaders/core/basic.json: Non [a-z0-9/.-] character in path of location: minecraft:basic_tessControl.tcs
:thonkwithshades:
Does the issue go away if you disable shaders or using other shaders that are not part of the Complementary family?
i dont get the error if i disable shaders, if that's what you mean
Oh and I can't use any other shaders too
How come? Same issue?
Yep
Time for Thanos Method™️ then.
The Thanos Method
What is The Thanos Method?
- The Thanos Method (more accurately known as a binary split) is a debugging technique used to find the mod or mods that are causing the issues you are experiencing.
How does it work?
- The Thanos Method is simple. To find the conflicting mods, split your mods folder into 2 groups. Remove one group, and test in-game. Keep the group that has the problem, and repeat until no more mods can be removed without the issue disappearing. Thanks to The Thanos Method, you can now enjoy an issue free modded Minecraft!

ohh boy here we go
glad to know im not the only one who's used this method before
:haha_yes:
ok i just tried one split and still nothing, but i do gotta ask a question
are the following mods known to have conflicts?
connectiblechains, axiom?
If
cpm
stands for Custom Player Models, then that one have had issues previously. I don't know the current status of that mod as it's been a while since the last report of it.I do have custom player models
For Axiom, I think I've heard that causing issues as well, but with Distant Horizons instead.
this little bugger was the culprit

We don't recommend sharing jar files around.
Just mentioning the name is enough.
