What do you guys think of these settings for a teleport 2 PC stream setup?
Main PC: only sending teleport at 80% quality (5800X + 3080)

Stream Laptop (5800H + 3060 100W)

IIRC OBS teleport doesn't rely on any settings within OBS for quality aside from maybe the canvas resolution if you're sending the whole canvas and not just a single source
- Do not use low latency or ultra low latency presets, they don't actually impact stream latency and sacrifice a ton of quality for no gain
- For now the hybrid MP4 container is not recommended as it has some issues (AKA that's why it's in beta). Stick with fragmented mp4 and transcode afterwards if need be
- You can lower the CQP value and use the P1 preset to reduce GPU usage. Long story short, CQP is just how much bitrate will be used, and presets are how much effort the GPU puts in to efficiently use that bitrate. For recording doing P1 with a higher bitrate uses less GPU for the same or better quality
Also for context OBS Teleport is essentially just MJPEG so it's not going to look great
You can try OBS NDI if you want since it may look better, or invest in a capture card that does even NV12 color
How about stuff like multipass, Look-ahead, psycho visual tuning, max b-frame ? @Hunter "Mohg is Innocent" AP
also P1@CQP16 sounds good for recording ?
all that other stuff is fine
Should be fine but go test things out yourself. Note that the files will be large, but that's the cost of high quality videos. Higher presets will be slightly smaller but not enough to justify the GPU resource cost
I'm recording local mostly for YouTube so I don't want files to be too big
cuz its all gonna get edited -> encoded -> compressed by youtube
Well if you're editing them then you can make sure your exported videos have a max file size
right
btw how do you setup the remux stuff
and can i do local marker without hybrid mp4 ?
And you can delete the recordings files (or move them to something like a NAS) after you export the final video
cuz i heard from nutty that its only available for hybrid mp4
no NAS unfortunately, i only have 500gb to work with so as soon as i'm done streaming i have to move it to my main PC immediately, and i only have 1tb free on my PC
OBS has a remux option in the
File
toolbar
And you can't use markers in fragmented MP4, but hybrid mp4 is not completely safe currently (again, it's in beta)im thinking about buying a 1tb external SSD running via USB C and write directly to it with OBS, then edit directly off of it on my main PC premiere
cuz transferring file from laptop to PC via 1gbps takes forever
yea i understand the not safe part but so far it's recorded 2 vods and looking good ngl
wait...
can i
write
directly from my stream PC to my main PC
via ethernet
:PauseChamp:
I mean you can but it's probably not going to work well
you can always try testing
streaming on a laptop just saved me LOL
my power just went out and my local recording was still going
i was able to stop the recording and save the local recording
