chest textures freaking out

Been discussed with both Patrix and Traben, only an issue when shaders on, model and textures are as expected with shaders off. happens with all shaders, some worse than others, but most visible on Patrix test map where chests are placed. mainly second layer that freaks out, but can happen to base layer if viewed from acute angles too. Patrix 128x & all other res packs. Happening with released versions of EMF/ETF, Iris & Sodium, but also tested with new alphas from unstable releases

remving the models pack (where the .jem file is) has different result, flat textures with strange shadows, like it's not recognising the non-full block.

Distant Horizons 2.1.3-a-dev Iris 1.7.3 / Sodium 0.5.11
How in the world you get that working??? :thonkwithshades:

Server fork

One thing is certain, Distant Horizons 2.1.3-a-dev made changes to its rendering engine that Iris 1.7.x is rendered incompatible, at least in the usual sense. Unless you're running a super old version of this server fork, your game should've crashed trying to load all those mods together.

Possibly, been following the thread for a while, using one that I know worked. But that’s not the issue here, those chests! Bump

this looks like it have shadow problems, install starlight if using higher than 1.20 or if lower use starlight and Phosphor

Starlight was no longer required as the shadow code was incorporated into MC if I recall, even the mod dev said not to use it and it is not updated Anyone? This is still ongoing

I think this might be related, it's possible they didn't log that the mod isn't compatible. I'm having some of the same issues on my 1.20.1 with the 2.1.3 Dev Some mobs, and specifically the chest is not working correctly on my own game. That's the best answer I got.

No, there’s a pre release for EMF compat in Dev from Traben, and this issue is still present without DH loaded - still not solved, thanks though Plus, with shaders turned off, models work fine

I've got a few people looking into it on my end, I'll send any updates if we can figure out a way to fix it. Where can we find the pre-release EMF?

In Trabens discord, dev discussion iirc - dev blog link below https://discord.com/channels/950942125225283634/950942125745381388/1269274743895228467

So we were able to make it better using the patrix basic woolfix However, the skins for the mobs are still messy.

Hmmm, I made the woolfix, it shouldn’t affect the chests at all - skins for mobs messy? Something not right there if using EMF/ETF from dev blog plus woolfix is not needed in 1.20.4 and up, Could you check the pic/original issue as I did point out it’s mainly second layer of chests above ground level ones causing the problem. I will check the woolfix pack later after work, that makes no sense - you are also using the Patrix pack for 1.20 - that’s quite a few versions old The issue is only happening with Java 21 in mc 1.21 (need to check that on 1.20.6 though)

I was pretty sleep deprived when I was looking for the fix. We are using 1.20.1, and that brought our fixes. Using an older patch shouldn't break the textures but you wouldn't really know without testing it. Hopefully the woolfix might work for you. The link you posted said no access, so we haven't been able to test the Dev EMF/ETF. My apologies for any confusion.

Don’t you realise it was me that created the woolfix? I know exactly what it does and if it fixed the chests for you, I’d say no, it was something else. I’d bet you’re mobs are still wrong cos you didn’t look up trabens discord, get it from the EMF Modrinth page. Meanwhile you’re using an older version of RP so I know the chests work on that. Nothing to do with DH or woolfix

My bad, again still just woke up.

ok this is starting to drag on and getting nowhere - left image is 1.20.1 with mods in next picture coming RIGHT image is exactly the same RP on 1.21, only mods different are Iris & Fabric.api all other mod versions are same (but for 1.21) @IMS sorry for the ping, but you can see this has been around a while with shaders off, in 1.21 chests are fine, turning on debugging of EMF the models wireframe looks good, something wrong with the textures This is ONLY with the Patrix Models pack on, without models (which adds custom chest model with interior 3d - works normally in 1.20.1 with models pack on)

log if it helps - happens on all shaders, swapped from Gluon to Comp before quit

at this point since no one is doing anything id suggest decompiling ETF/EMF and seeing what changes it makes to the models or if you can find the model file somewhere try editing it yourself. Obviously that's potentially difficult but depending on how much you care, messing around with the properties added to the model may give you some insight.

Nobody getting this are they!? Model works perfectly with same pack, same mods on 1.20.1 - Traben already said this is an Iris/shader issue, NOT EMF/ETF as only happens in 1.21, with all shaders, fine with shaders off.

yea, there was so much stuff to read i forgot it. ok then look thru iris code. its happening with multiple shaders so its probably a change in iris. check the changelog too if there is

It’s the only mod that changed as I said above, or fabric api, changelog to 1.21 are sketchy, all I can see is that there were fixes to vertex corruption for 1.20.1, .4 & .6 but not seeing them mentioned on the 1.21 version oddly enough, I've discovered there was a change between 1.7.1 and 1.7.2 involving strange entity shadows, they look wrong on top of chest, like the kappa reverse shadow but only from a certain angle, then they changed to this screwed up texture in 1.7.2, and even more weird - SEUS GFME v1.16 edit is not affected thru any of these 3 versions
Sasquott
SasquottOP5mo ago
1. entity shadows off (1.71 comp) 2. entity shadows on (still comp) 3. SEUS GFME edit is correct - I'm so confused
