Partially formal event outfit
I'm supposed to be going to this event on Monday that's like semi-formal, semi-casual. It's leaning towards the casual side but everyone wants to look nice.
I'm trying to put together an outfit that doesn't look too formal and out of place, but also casual and have a bit of a rugged look.
This is what I've come up with so far based on what's my wardrobe. I was planning to wear it with jeans.
A few friends who I ran it by first said they think the tie is too loud and the materials (I'm assuming the shirt and the canvas shirt-jac) don't match.
So I'm sending this here so that I can get some of yalls thoughts as well as some advice and pointers.

Also I know it looks janky in the photo, I wasn't sure how to hang both articles of clothing up properly on the hanger for the photo

Do you know what they’ll be wearing? I’d probably try to match their formality
uhh the one running the event is gonna be wearing like a dress shirt and some type of tapered pants? They're from uniqlo and they're just called tapered pants
I only know what he's wearing cause he sent it to us (like our group) and was running the outfit by us as well
Besides that no one else knows what they're wearing yet
In that case I’d probably switch out the shirt and tie combo for like a lighter ocbd or something if you already have one
I don’t know what ties you have but something rougher/with texture would prolly match better in terms of vibes
These aren't all of my ties in this photo, I have two more that aren't in this picture
They're rolled like that bc I was going though them
So I made another combination with a different shirt and tie, let me know your thoughts 🙂
imo 1>2 but especially if you swapped out the red shirt for a white ocbd
for 2 imo the neat and regular patterns don't really convey a sense of ruggedness
imo maybe the back center tie with a white shirt, though it would help to see the fit together in full
Do you like the canvas shirt jacket as well
I have no other jacket to wear with dressy clothes besides that and my jean jacket 😭
imo it's fine as there's some structure to suggest it's like a blazer; i often wear variations on blazers to less formal events

But I wear my jean jacket so much so that's why I was worried that it would be bad if I wore it to this too
A solid light blue would also be aces here
