Can you share your mod list?
reterraforged, better villages, distant horizons, library ferret
can you share your whole mods list? looks like you also have optifine installed
(and judging by the amount of errors it is producing, may be the culprit)
oh yea forgot ab that
yea those r all
then try without optifine
what do i replace it w tho
i wanna use shaders
sodium?
oh, you had shaders active?
not in the ss
but i wanna play w shaders tho
i was trying to see if the issue was using shaders so i removed them

you cant use shaders with 1.20.2
oof
hol up
i have a beautiful world in 1.20.2 w reterraforged
would it get screwed if i downgraded it to 1.20.1?
why not update to 1.20.4, 1.20.6 or 1.21?
the latest reterraforged file i have access to is 1.20.2
You would also need to switch from Optifine to Oculus, as Optifine doesn't have DH Shader support
alr
ah alright, well i cant guarentee things wont break if you downgrade to 1.20.1. but if you make a backup of your world, you can try
aight bet
cuz i found a world im rly happy with
it took some time finding it
but yea ill do that
ill try using oculus w no shaders and ill lyk what happens in a bit
sure, you also need to install embeddium then btw
and remove optifine of course
Embeddium should provide a better performance boost than optifine anyways
alr ill try in a bit
aight works without shaders
1.20.2
what would happen if i used shaders tho
the LODs will not render
or render incorrectly
alr
ill try using 1.20.1 w shaders and ill lyk
alright
dont forget the backup
ye
uh
my game crashed after a bit
i didnt even use the shaders
error code -1

it might be bc i was loading in way too many new chunks at the same time
alright
would still be weird though
hol up
should i screenshare?
if by screenshare you mean send a pic or vid, sure
wait so basically
i use complementary
and it adds fog
do you have the correct complementary version?
honestly idek anymore it works tho
i just wanted to ask
if this is dh or not
hol up
i dont thing i see any LODs
without shaders
you probably dont have the correct complementary version
ye
get the latest from modrinth
latest?
latest version of complementary
what if its not compatible w 1.20.1
shaders are not mc version dependent
ah i see
nice!
now?
looks to be working
aye ty for ur time
u helped a lot
no problem!
how should i test for world corruption tho?
js explore chunks?
i guess
im not sure
aight
ty again lol
i dont even know what was added in 1.20.2 lol
basically
i dont think theres a diff for worldgen
so should it be fine if so?
probably
aight bet
yo i got a question rq tho
sure
how does dh not eat up my cpu
but for example 32 chunks on vanilla does
i get around double the temps doing so
DH renders blocks at a lower quality. you can see this when you set your vanilla render distance to 2, or use a zoom mod to zoom into distant terrain
ah
wait is this normal tho?
like noticable unloaded chunks
chunks take a long time to generate, so yes. but if you wait long enough, more chunks should be generating
/slowgen
If it feels like LoD generation with
Distant Generator
is too slow:
Try increasing CPU Load
in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU.
To see if Distant Generator
is really working or not:
1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive
settings of CPU Load
. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background.
2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe
, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering
and Show World Gen Queue
to True
.
Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)that might be helpful
oh yea i see the chunks loading now
i did both steps
my fans are LOUD tho lol
oof
yea
that happens
worth it tho
tysm its insane
np!
