doesnt work in general but i can see some signs of it

Hi, I have found out about Distant Horizons trough tiktok, and wanted to give it a try trough fabric and also install some other mods (i just took fabric api, sodium, indium, controlled, distant horizons, iris mod and framework) but as i loaded in the game and went trough every single setting of the DH it did not want to load the chunks. I have watched countless tutorials and it doesnt even let me use the /chunky command. i am playing in 1.20.1 singeplayer. Even with DH not working, i still have some stuff i want to ask you guys. How do i make the iris shader MOD to work? i havent seen any settings for it and i have tried putting it in my shader list, didint work. i am also pretty new to the whole sodium indium and fabric api stuff too, so i struggled to download everything

Chunky is known to cause LODs to turn into swiss cheese and bloat up world size, as can be seen in the attached screenshot. We recommend you enable "Distant Generation" in Distant Horizons' settings and wait. If you actually want to pre-generate vanilla chunks along with LOD data, disable Distant Horizons, wait for chunky to finish, then re-enable Distant Horizons.

You won't be able to use the /chunky command if you didn't install the chunky mod You can access iris's settings via the video settings and clicking on shaders, or using the keybinds i, o, and p. Because DH renders everything at a lower quality. The lowest quality DH can render is a 1x1 meter cube, so flowers appear as that. It looks from your screenshots like DH is working, but it just takes a long time for all the chunks to generate /slowgen

If it feels like LoD generation with Distant Generator is too slow: Try increasing CPU Load in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU. To see if Distant Generator is really working or not: 1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive settings of CPU Load. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background. 2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering and Show World Gen Queue to True. Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)

it is working, there you can select the shaderpack you want iris to load

ooooooooh so iris is just like a supporter for other shaders? or does it actually effect the shaders
Puhpine
Puhpine3mo ago
yea, its a shader loader, it loads shaders

ive set the render quality to block and the flowers still look like that do i have to go down there and generate the chunks first? because i havent walked there
Puhpine
Puhpine3mo ago
yea, because DH cant render something smaller than a 1x1 meter cube, this is the best a flower will look

thats a common problem with bliss https://discord.com/channels/881614130614767666/1250092192165269564/1250094919641596055 other shaders dont have that issue

if you have iris shaders with bliss shaders and the render from DH on, and then change the distance for lod then that happens i was trying to lower the lod distance so i could maybe have a bit more fps and then i saw that do you know which settings of the bliss shaders i can twist around with to get a bit more fps? 😢 i would prefer atleast 77 fps minimum

bliss doesnt have any default presets, so youll have to put a bit more work in tweaking it yourself the best settings for you depend on your hardware, and what quality settings you would like to sacrifice alternatively, you can also pick another shader that does have quality presets, like photon or complementary

i would want to find another shader like bliss in the terms of lightning its so dark and nice all of the shaders i know are just bright and look bad for this mod atleast

im not sure what shaders would fit that description, but here is a list of DH supported shaders: https://gist.github.com/Steveplays28/52db568f297ded527da56dbe6deeec0e
