Game Crashing Almost Instantly After Entering World
I'm quite unsure what I'm doing wrong as it's almost certainly a result of Chunky, yet I'm in desperate need of a pre-generation mod else DH itself is fairly underwhelming.
I've attempted to downscale both DH, and Chunky yet to no avail. I'm wondering if anyone has a potential solution, or alternative to Chunky perhaps?

Remove chunky then
/swiss
Chunky is known to cause LODs to turn into swiss cheese and bloat up world size, as can be seen in the attached screenshot.
We recommend you enable "Distant Generation" in Distant Horizons' settings and wait.
If you actually want to pre-generate vanilla chunks along with LOD data, disable Distant Horizons, wait for chunky to finish, then re-enable Distant Horizons.
And /slowgen
If it feels like LoD generation with
Distant Generator
is too slow:
Try increasing CPU Load
in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU.
To see if Distant Generator
is really working or not:
1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive
settings of CPU Load
. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background.
2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe
, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering
and Show World Gen Queue
to True
.
Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)I've followed the solutions and have had little to no success, it's probably worth noting that the game was running smoothly before chunky was downloaded. Alongside this, ever since these crashes have become a regular occurrence a green text in the chat bar states that it's 'nighty' build, yet this had always been the case.
Have you tried redownloading from modrinth?
It auto updated you to the nightly builds. Redownload the mod, then go to Dh's settings, advanced, auto updater to change from the nightly to the stable branch
@Puhpine (GMT +2) @samalando (ping on please) thank you both for the help, as it's now running smoothly! My only question now is that there is almost a constant ring around me of unloaded chunks which is determined by my actual render distance, any solutions as it looks very odd.
If you're not using a shader, you can tweak this ring in dh's settings. It's called overdraw prevention
sorry for asking again, but have been looking all over and can't seem to find it! Do you happen to know where it's located under, many thanks!
Its under advanced, graphics iirc, but I might be wrong
