Problems with DH
I've been trying for a couple days to fix this up, but no matter how I tweak DH settings, this always happens. Keep in mind, these chunks have already been rendered, but are showing up broken and staggered like this.

did you use chunky?
/chunky
Chunky is known to cause LODs to turn into swiss cheese and bloat up world size, as can be seen in the attached screenshot.
We recommend you enable "Distant Generation" in Distant Horizons' settings and wait.
If you actually want to pre-generate vanilla chunks along with LOD data, disable Distant Horizons, wait for chunky to finish, then re-enable Distant Horizons.
I have it installed, I used it in a different world but not this one
it will probably fix itself it you wait long enough, this will speed up if you increase cpu load in dh's settings
I was waiting a while, I've just uninstalled chunky and will give it another go
alright
It's annoying because when I go closer. they fix, but as soon as I move backwards again they return to that
I've also encountered this issue here with already rendered land
that can happen when you're moving too fast
vanilla loading/generating cant keep up
oh so thats something that cant be avoided
yep
also do you have any idea if distant generation works while you're playing normally, or do I need to stand still
it also works while playing normally
/slowgen
If it feels like LoD generation with
Distant Generator
is too slow:
Try increasing CPU Load
in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU.
To see if Distant Generator
is really working or not:
1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive
settings of CPU Load
. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background.
2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe
, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering
and Show World Gen Queue
to True
.
Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)that might be useful
thanks mate appreciate it
np!
Sorry for hijacking this but what does the distant generation feature do? I tried using chunky and got the same swiss cheese issue, and was wondering what the issue was.
Distant generation generates chunks outside of your normal render distance. This can be a problem when you use it together with chunky as now both mods are fighting for what chunks to generate.
