Help with wedding fits
Ok, I have 2 weddings coming up and I always have a bit of trouble with wedding dress codes, so I thought I'd crowdsource ideas
- Wedding 1 is a 4pm wedding in August. Dress code is "we're flexible but most people will be wearing dressy casual."
- Wedding 2 is annoyingly "no dress code," but I believe bride and groom will be rather formal. This one is also an afternoon wedding, in October in Western Mass, and I believe it's outdoor (it's at like a retreat center).
uhh, not sure if there's any other information that would be helpful here? But I would say shoes are probably the thing I know least about w/r/t event-appropriateness

You could probably get away with wearing the same thing if the weather holds. What have you already got in terms of wedding attire?
I really don't have much of anything, honestly. This is like the second wedding I'll have been to wearing menswear
lol I also got a wedding invite that said “dressy casual”
i feel like dressy casual is kind of trendy right now?
Do you want to buy a suit or no
I would prefer not to buy a suit if I don't have to!
You don't really have to, but it could be useful to have for weddings going forward so you don't feel like you have to throw an outfit together last minute
yeah, that's fair. I'll put some thought into it, but I've been low-key considering top surgery so I don't wanna make that purchase until I've decided about that
Probably a good call
In the meantime, do you have any blazers you like for the august wedding
I'd build around that instead of shoes tbh
I don't, but that definitely seems like something I should have
You can thrift a cheap or vintage one pretty easily and get it altered if time and money is a factor
it doesn't have to be perfect like most folks only care about what the bride and groom are wearing and then themselves
Sounds like a good plan!
Def see what your local shops have got and go for whatever fits you in the shoulders and chest best. Ideal combo for a summer wedding imo is navy color and linen fabric but that's just me. Then pick pants and shoes based on that and force your date to coordinate no matter how much they complain.
no matter how much they complainHe'll complain any time I put him in anything close to formal, but I usually get him to listen in the end lol
+1 for eBay blazer and chinos
beautiful. i'll certainly be back for shoe advice once i have the blazer/pants
If you don't have a blazer/sc that fits you atm i would recommend taking a tape measure to the mall to measure what fits you there before you try rolling the dice on ebay!
ooh, thanks, good call!
