eGPU stuck on 800MHz

Hello 👋 I'm currently using a Minisforum UM790 Pro (https://store.minisforum.de/products/minisforum-um790-pro) with an ATG UT3G USB4 eGPU board (https://www.adt.link/product/UT3G.html). A RX7600XT is plugged into that. The eGPU board is obviously plugged into one of the front USB4 ports. Monitor is plugged via HDMI into the eGPU, NOT into the Minisforum PC. Booting & having a display output works without a problem. The eGPU board enables itself properly on boot of the PC, power supply is spinning up, etc. In games however I have extremely low FPS (way lower than with the onboard 780M) and the monitoring overlay reports that the GPU is on 800MHz constantly and only using ~3-10W. How can I make sure that games are properly using the eGPU and fix the issue of it being only at 800MHz? It feels like the eGPU is using way more power than reported, at least all the fans (of both the GPU & the power supply) are spinning up and you can feel some heat coming from the whole setup. Thanks a lot 🙂

i had to same issue and my fix was to open LACT, select the gpu and set it to "highest clocks". not sure if that's the exact right answer, but that's what worked for me.

Thank you very much for the quick response! 🤗 I checked again more in-depth and attached some pictures. The in-game overlay picture with around 43 FPS, very steady frametimes, is just the integrated GPU, HDMI plugged into the PC directly and the eGPU not plugged in at all. The picture with 36FPS is with the eGPU connected, HDMI plugged into the eGPU. As you can see, lower FPS, especially very unstable frametimes. This was all in Gamemode. In Desktop mode, I tried out the same and even ran LACT in parallel. The FPS were around the same, but LACT clearly shows a high power consumption and very high clocks. Possibly the overlay in gamemode was actually about the integrated GPU for some reason? Even setting the clocks in LACT manually to "highest clocks" did not change the FPS at all.

I had an issue with tdp with my egpu. Steam tdp control was applied to the GPU, sp I had to put steam tdp to max (280w I think in my case) and then a tdp control app to limit the CPU one
