Which optiplex should I buy?
I currently am running my SMP server on my own pc while playing at the same time with client side mods. Ryzen 3700x overclocked, corsair vengeance pro DDR4 32gb 3600mhz, and a 1tb nvme SSD. I also have a spare 16gb of the same ram but I can't seem to overclock it for some reason, so it's stuck at 2133mhz weirdly, but I'm wondering if I can use it for the optiplex as well.

none they are all horrible specs
..... and 3 of them are from the same seller xd
Try asking local IT companies
See if they're looking to get rid of any optiplex's
Would also be careful, unless these people are shipping them, ur kinda almost doxxing urself
Idc if people know what city I live in lol
A lot of people live here
Yeah but it’s just a paper server im trying to run. I’m running it on my own pc currently while playing at the same time, even though I have good specs I still thought it’d be worth it to get a separate system.
all of that ram there is ddr3, cpus from 10+ years ago
I have my own Corsair vengeance pro 16gb ddr4 ram that I’ll install
not worth buying one, better off getting shared hosting from somewhere
which wont work on those old cpus +mobo🤦♂️
Hmm okay
Well what type of specs should I be looking for?
Or what computer would be okay for running a server instead of an optiplex
something that is not 10years old, at least ddr4 with ssd or preferably nvme storage with a cpu with good single thread performance
if its not long term, as i said, youd be better off just buying game server hosting
or if this is a public network with multiple servers bringing in money you could rent a dedicated server
My personal computer has 32gb 3600mhz ddr4 ram, ryzen 3700x, and 1tb m.2 nvme ssd. This is what I’m running my server on
thats fine
better than any of those optiplexes
Yeah I just don’t wanna pay for a service to host a server, I’d rather not have to pay monthly or annually for something like that
“i hate monthly payments” mfs when they learn about rent and utilities
Those are necessities, a Minecraft server isn’t. I can run a Minecraft server on a low watt psu without having to rely on a device
just host it on your own machine for now, hosting on an a machine like you have shown is gonna be hell in vanilla
Service*
let alone with mods/plugins
Yeah I agree
