Chunky, Water chunks
How do I get chunky to effectively work with DH and avoid these strange chunk errors that only seem to happen in water.

don't use chunky at all. enable distant generation and wait
up the cpu usage preset as well if you wish
/chunky
Chunky is known to cause LODs to turn into swiss cheese and bloat up world size, as can be seen in the attached screenshot.
We recommend you enable "Distant Generation" in Distant Horizons' settings and wait.
If you actually want to pre-generate vanilla chunks along with LOD data, disable Distant Horizons, wait for chunky to finish, then re-enable Distant Horizons.
okay thank you
is there a limit to how far distant generation can generate?
also does it turn on with just the setting distant generation to true or do i have to manually activate it
it goes out to what you set your lod radius to
and you just have to set distant generation to true
if it's slow increase the cpu load preset
/slowgen
If it feels like LoD generation with
Distant Generator
is too slow:
Try increasing CPU Load
in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU.
To see if Distant Generator
is really working or not:
1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive
settings of CPU Load
. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background.
2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe
, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering
and Show World Gen Queue
to True
.
Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)if it looks like nothing is happening read the above
