how can i open my ip public
Me and my friends are bored at aternos lagging out, so i decided to open our own server with my spare pc. I have the server running locally but i cannot port forward on the router. I have put the static ip on the port forward with all port number to 25565 but canyouseeme still cannot connect to my port. This is my very first time doing this so sorry if I do anything wrong

Try playit.gg instead, it's hassle free
To laggy bro
I have tried but the connection is quite long
My server have to connect to singapre server and back
Meanwhile my friends is like 5-6km radius, so im really looking forward to find a way to host other than services
This is the port part
idk about much but you're not using that local ip address to let ur friend connect right?

How To Port Forward Minecraft Server (2024)
How can you port forward a Minecraft server in 2024? Well, this is the video for you. This is our complete Minecraft port forwarding guide showing you every step from logging into your router to what ports you need to forward to even how to make sure that after the port forwarding for your Minecraft server is finished your friends can join!
Sta...
this tutorial says you need to use your public ip address
you can just type "my ip" on google and it'd show it for u
This work but public ip doesnt
My laptop can play it silky smooth but my friend cannot connect๐ญ๐ญ
@Ena Miller
that doesnt look like your public ip
Yes
Its my private
But only private ip work
I have changed the port to 6969
But canyouseeme still say it closed
Can you look around on your router's dasboard and look for a public ip?
Lemme see
Send us the first two parts of the IP, when you find it.
I have access the router website
Now i have to find public ip on it?
Yeah, it should be somewhere on that panel..
Imma doxxed myself w this lol
Not really

We may have bad news for you :C
Open your router's configuration interface. Somewhere you'll see something like 'external' or 'public' IP.
If your external IP is in one of the following ranges, you're basically screwed as long as portforwards go:
- 10.0.0.0/8
- 172.16.0.0/20
- 192.168.0.0/16
- 100.64.0.0/10
- any IPv6 address/range - This shouldn't be a problem, but Minecraft's IPv6 support is still rather quirky. You're at your own but we're happy if you share your experience.
You should ask your ISP for a public and IPv4 address (but this may cost you money).
NB: your internal IP should and most probably will be in one of the first three ranges, don't mix them up
Admincraft Canned Responses
And you, indeed, have a reserved IP address as an external IP.
No wry just joking
Ok so
I have put my that ip w :6969
And the server work
On my laptop but my friend havent tried
You won't be able to port forward, you are behind a cgnat.
Im cooked?
yeah...
Although you can try..
The port forwarding config looks good, so it should work.
The IP you need to give to your players is the one that appears here https://whatismyipaddress.com/
Under IPV4
If they can't join by simply using that IP, your ISP doesn't support port forwarding
So if my laptop can join w that ip
Does that mean it work?
Eee, probably not.
Sometimes you can join from your public IP from inside your network, sometimes you can't. It depends on your configuration.
This is your public IP.
Yeah ik
Ask your friends to join. Or use a server pinger
like.. https://mcsrvstat.us/
Cant connect sadly
Well! You can actually still home host..
Really?
1. You can ask your ISP for a public IP
2. Make a tunnel thru your network (Like playit.gg or your own)
Either of those options will work
What is your own?
There is open software out there that enables you to make your own tunnel
But you would need to rent a VPS somewhere on the internet...
But honestly at that moment, you might as well pay for a shared hosting..
Seems like bombing the isp is a better option
Somehow people with the same isp can still open server
Hum, thats interesting..
Maybe there is an extra configuration you need to do or your ISP needs to click a magic button in the backend
The answer is mixed
Some can some not
Aight i have to go now so may see you later, thanks for your helping
np!
Minekube Connect
The Ingress Tunnel for Minecraft Servers
good alternative to playit
but yeah those work too
give them a call and ask them to open the port for you
Im at class right now so i cannot make any call
But can you explain how does it work ? The open port thing?
@Eternal
Do i have to give them information because im not the one who paid for the service
you call your ISP, ask if they can open the port 6969 for you or ask if you can port forward at all
keep in mind if you have cgnat well
Port 6969๐คก
you might be charged
Oof
^
Lol ik ik
:Papara_kekw:
if this is the case you want to use a connector
minekube/playit
Okie dokie
Seems like they dont charge for opening port, some guy on forum has already done it
each internet provider works differently
some are behind cgnat, some have dynamic ips, some have to ask their isp
me i have a static ip but never opened a port
So how can you host
Idk if the isp is going to ask for private info or nah
Because my mom register it , not me
idk if i can or not, never tried it
Tmr imma give it a shot
@Eternal upon my research, some redditor said that you can port forward w ipv6 if it doesnt blocked
cant you just use a vpn? either with a public server, or just between your friends
I havent heard about vpn server before, does it laggy because using service tend to have long respond time
For example playit.gg is super slow
has some factors
like the the total ping would be ping between you and VPN server + player's ping to the VPN server
Cloudflare seems nice cus i use it all the time
Idk if i can host with that
if you get a location close to you, it shouldnt be too bad
cloudflare tunnel kinda,
everyone needs to have cloudflared installed to connect
but else yes
Does it simple to use
To a degree yeah, but you have to get everyone to install it which is a hassle
No problem
And they have to do stuff in terminal
Oh
Thats very inconvenience
I would try calling ips tommorow
But i dont expect much from them
Oh sounds like my ips have the worst service
u two bros have the same isp? see if ur friend could portforward instead
He dont have a good pc
I dont too but i have a spare one and good internet
:WHYY:
Internet people said calling the isp told them to open port 6969 (:minecraftTroll: ) then tell then the registered phone number
Pray for me discordian
nice
you can also try wireguard
iirc it's pretty low latency compared to playit.gg
you have to get a vps for it
yeah was about to say
could always use oracle cloud
๐คท
As i mention, i have a decent box pc with good internet, why not give it a try
๐ฅฐ
Try canyouseeme
Yes ofc
No luck?
Are you sure you have a public ip?
Firewall opened, port forwarded on modem
That wonโt work unless you have one that is not behind CGNAT
Apparently, the ip on my modem is different from cycm
You mind showing me the cycm page screenshot?
I dont have my pc on rn
Sorry
But its different, very
Then do you have your ip ranges in one of those?
!cgnat
Uh

Admincraft Canned Responses
Ah there
External btw
You can scroll up a bit to see some screenshot
So yeah it may be cgnat
That looks like a cgnat range
10.x
Imma call ips tmr to see if they can open for me
Then you are screwed as far as port forwarding goes
Would probably require extra charges, as independent public ip addresses are expensive
Opening port?
I see some guy on a forum, with the same ips , have it open with no charge
No, getting your standalone ip
Port forwarding is free
Imma just port forward
Would not work if you have cgnat
Idk man , the guy on forum has the same problem w me, minecraft server porting problem
Then he call, they open 25565 for him and he good to go
You need an external public visible ipv4/6 address to forward anything
Yeah, in those cases you need to talk with your isp
Can you explain cuz i not into software stuff alot
Your other options would be playit.gg, ngrok, or services similar
What is there to explain? CGNAT (carrier grade network address translation) basically identifies your home as a single item within an internal ip range, and then all the traffic is proxied through your ispโs public ip instead of yours
An ip that you have no control over
Well i only open my server for like 4 of my friend so
Itโs cheaper for your isp, but makes it impossible to host things by forwarding
Thatโs not a concern
Unless you can see if your isp can open 25565 for you on their ip, if not, then you may need to purchase an ipv4 address
Alright imma contact them tmr morning
Iโd avoid the hassle and get an ipv4 (public)
I have no money actually
๐ญ
Then good luck, your isp would almost certainly not give you an ipv4 for free
Your best bet is playit.gg
Free tier
Its not like im asking them for a new ip bruh
I mean, still, good luck, even if itโs just opening a port, you may have to use ports other than 25565 if someone is using it already
Oh yeah np i changed it to 6969
Basically all the homes behind this cgnat public ip would be sharing the same public ip, but the number of ports stays the same
Best wishing there are no one open a minecraft server out there
๐
ยฏ\_(ใ)_/ยฏ
wishing everyone else is sane enough not to self host
Self hosting is actually what I prefer
As I would then have full control over the hardware and every aspect of the server
Having a spare pc is fun
Also very cool
I just use a OCI server
Its something you can proudly tell you kid
better than paying for all the electricity
I have a kilowatt worth of heating from all the spare heat generated :minecraftTroll:
Lol
I can plug the pc in the apartment hall for free
Or the charging station
:minecraftTroll:
Enterprise hardware is quite stable, never ever had a system crash thatโs not directly related to mishandling on my part
Do they require any information when port forward other than registered phone number or potentially address
Dunno, never called my isp before
But they would probably ask you what are you doing with it
Ah yes
School project
Camera?
?
Just be honest with them and say Minecraft
Computer project
Why are you trying to hide the truth?
Higher the chances of opening idk
Being straight with them is the best
Opening the port of your own household wifi as a kid isnt sound very openable
Im 16 but yeah
Well ok
@๐ซ๐ฎ๐ท๐ฐ have you tried something like portmap.io
honestly, you'd be lucky if they do open a port for you, mine just straight-up refused lol. they dont even offer static ips in household plans (and commercial plans start at 40$ a month), i have been thinking about switching to a better isp.
I mean if that's the case and you hit a wall with your ISP I would highly recommend just trying to snag oracle cloud free tier and just using a tunnel but of course you'll probably need to run a couple more applications on it so they don't terminate your instance
Pray
the latency is still kinda high
the closest location to me gives me a latency of 70 ms, not bad for a playing-with-friends-casually minecraft server, but it gets iffy
also giving my info to oracle... ehhh
Another ISP I know offers static IPs for 2$ a month if I get a plan that's like 12$ a month and above. thats pretty cheap, though their service isnt the best.
Does static ip is really needed?
Its not, its just a me thing, cool stuff to have.
Ab ok
portmap tho
did you try it
Its still early in the morning so imma wait
Im trying
Not the best ping
I just called the isp
They ask me if i needed to open cam or smth and i said yeah then puff
At the end, death threats will get what you want
i would be a bit more careful about leaking your server ip like that
even with whitelist, its eh
Meh its public ip
1 restart and its gone

Thanks yall
For helping me out on this project
appreciate from the bottom of my heart
If you run a home lab and host things locally, then yes
Meh i can search for public ip everytime
