how do I prevent things in the distance looking like this

the whole point of Distant Horizons is to render things at lower detail
if you use a spyglass you're going to see it very obviously

those are just shadows
albeit strange ones
DH uses ambient occulusion on far details
could it be because chunks behind arent loaded in maybe its on the edge
No it's just like that
just don't zoom in and everything will be fine
if you want full detail, use Bobby to extend the max value for the render distance slider
wait im messing with the quality setting and now I have this?
quality preset oh is quality preset for all settings ? I thought it meant as in the stuff far away detail
did you get a renderer disabled itself warning?
