Shouldn't it be root3*h/4pi

spin angular momentum = [s(s+1)]^1/2 *h/2pi where s = number of unpaired electrons/2 na- 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s1

What’s given in key? Imo it should be root3/2 h- [the ans u got too]

its somehow A i think its a printing error what bout the 2pi? btw whats the unit for this , besides that of momentum i ve seen BM in some questions
hardcoreisdead
hardcoreisdeadOP7mo ago
ohh can you answer the actual question now?

ok so they have given h bar in all the options which is a reduced form of h/2pi that is used in this chapter even then upon solving i got (root 3)/2 h-bar which is not there in the options

exactly @iTeachChem

yo sup you guys figured this one out na? this seems good to me
stormycloud
stormycloud7mo ago
h/2pi is nothing but the h with the slash

hardcoreisdeadOP7mo ago
han i got that cleared but what about the /2 should i just consider it a printing error and move on?
stormycloud
stormycloud7mo ago
Yah it printing error pretty sure, it’s def root3/2, I cleared the formula with my sir too

mu spin is orbital angular momentum or spin angular momentum if its orbital then my ans matches with the key but its weird
stormycloud
stormycloud7mo ago
Isn’t mu spin called magnetic moment? Excuse me tho we completed this chap log back so not fresh on the topic Spin angikar momentum and orbital angular momentum are diff from magnetic moment orbital am is root l[l+1] h /2pi Spin is the same thing with s And magnetic moment is the mu spin Is it opt1? @hardcoreisdead sry for ping
hardcoreisdead
hardcoreisdeadOP7mo ago
then what is the symbol for magnetic moment ? considering muspin to be magnetic moment yes but , if muspin = magnetic moment , then what are the symbols for orbital angular momentum and spin angular momentum
stormycloud
stormycloud7mo ago
Symbol for magnetic moment is mu spin and it’s unit is BM [bohr magneton I think] And usually I haven’t seen any questions where they use symbol for orbital or spin AM and our sir also hasn’t used any I think so dk Okk, so u got the ans for it?
hardcoreisdead
hardcoreisdeadOP7mo ago
ok so theres no specific symbol for it, got it yeah , earlier i was considering it to be spin angular momentum , considering it magnetic moment i got the answer tysmm
stormycloud
stormycloud7mo ago
Might wanna ask our seniors here but I am sure mu spin is magnetic moment, but usually a dead giveaway to what they ask is in the units Ywww :]
