Underwater game-breaking bug when enabling shaders.
Whenever I'm enabling ANY shader at all while using Iris with Sodium and Indium my underwater view is completely broken.

I've tried this with both Sodium 0.5.11, 0.5.9 and Sodium 0.6 preview, same bug. I've also tried this with Iris 1.7.1, 1.7.3 and the preview 1.8.0.
Interesting. I assume it only happens with Iris 1.7.1 and above?
I've tried this with any shaders, be it BSL, Complementary, Complementary with Euphoria Patches. I've tried messing with any setting I have available.
1.21 Minecraft, Fabric Load 0.15.11
When I'm disabling shaders via Iris everything works perfectly.
I don't have any mod that would break rendering like nvidium or something like that since my game is prefectly normal whenver I have shaders disabled. But just to be sure, I'm going to post a full list of my mods.
Yes, I've tried all Iris versions. Can't go lower than 1.7.1 bcs I want to play on 1.21 with all my mods.
Have you tried with only Iris and Sodium to see if the issue persist?
Isn't indium also required for shaders?
but yeah I could try with just Iris and Sodium
ah wait nvm it doesnt require indium
Indium is a stopgap for other mods that make use of Fabric Rendering API (FRAPI) to work with Sodium.
With Sodium having plans to support FRAPI natively in future versions, Indium will no longer be necessary as it will be superseded.
I see
wait what
so apparently with only sodium and iris my underwater view works..?
what could it be the cause then
any idea what could be causing this compatibility issue from this mod list?
The Thanos Method
What is The Thanos Method?
- The Thanos Method (more accurately known as a binary split) is a debugging technique used to find the mod or mods that are causing the issues you are experiencing.
How does it work?
- The Thanos Method is simple. To find the conflicting mods, split your mods folder into 2 groups. Remove one group, and test in-game. Keep the group that has the problem, and repeat until no more mods can be removed without the issue disappearing. Thanks to The Thanos Method, you can now enjoy an issue free modded Minecraft!

yeah I know this method
Classic mod incompatibility. Try the method above to check and pinpoint the exact mod that may cause the issue.
but there's also quite some libraries here and I can't just blindly remove a ton of stuff alltogether without manually looking for compatibility between libraries
but I'll try it nonetheless
I'll report the compatiblity issue back here when I find it if it helps you guys further on.
so it wont happen in the future
Found the culprit.
The mod "natural motion blur" causes this issue.
oh and btw iris 1.8 and sodium 0.6 work really well, haven't had any issues since of now
:haha_yes:
oh my god thank you, I was alr freaking out and I found this LMAO
