Yes, the limit is 50 for cut down logs, it's to not crash your game or cut down on your fps really bad.
and if reload your save, all dropped logs will dissapear
easy way to work around all of that is to just place them down as a pillar and pick them up later when you need them

im pretty sure it cant drop more than 50 either
i've blown up my houses multiple times and it only dropped a fraction of what blew up

But just stack them up to 50
And have multiple towers about 3 wall lengths away
