im using pterodactyl if that helps
the panel and wings are on different servers
I don't have a domain name so I might have set it up wrong
I had to not enable https and the SSL thing
Could that be causing the issue
I have the same problem too
did u fix it by any chance?
Saying the error doesn't help a lot. Make sure to give us a little more info.
1. Is it a home server or vps
2. If it is a home server are you connecting from it using home network.
3. How long has the server been active
If it is a home server google what's my ip and make sure that you are connecting using that ip
Free Dynamic up with subdomain services should work
You don't really need a domain for pterodactyl
Ah ok, but I was going to say
With ssl/HTTPS
Also doesn't fix the problem if ip is not right as you will still have to update the ip every once in a while if it is a home server
dont need != doesnt mean good
no
most services like that offer software to automatically update it
when it notices public ip changes
Router settings
doesnt need to be router settings
Seeing as they’ve got 2 servers, one of them has to be on oracle cloud anyways statistically speaking
Can be on windows or set as a Linux cron job
Router settings are the best that option is in the settings
not neccesarily
apis change, router firmware rarely does
or atleast isnt that updated
Depends which api
??
apis in general can change...
a dhcp service can either die, change api, infrastructure
some of them change some of them don't. Depends on the creator
right but nothing is permenant
Yeah but not the entire api
??
doesnt matter if a single part of it breaks the router option
+ bugs in router software especially in this lesser used part of it, are less likely to be fixed but official software for OS is generally more updated
Well you need to try if it works
on my router noip works perfectly for a while
I have first hand experience
With both router and software noIP
Stupid autocorrect
Both worked fine
"for a while", right but that wasnt what i was replying to
i was replying to the fact you called it the best option
Best option if it works
not really
It's the simplest to setup
Arguably
^^
downloading no-ip (or whatever else) and logging in isnt that much harder than having to go to router ui, login, and make sure your api key etc is correct
Depends on what you’re familiar with and other factors tbh
Not that much harder but still simpler
eh no
also having to find the correct tab on your router kek
Yeah or slow as routers
or that yes
Mine took 20 minutes to save a port forwarding option
In that time you would’ve done the steps for software 4 times over
and again this is not taking into consideration router bugs, issues with just a sub option of the router
etc
and how it works during operation
Still I recommend to use the router if it works. Apis sometimes change but not that regularly to break everything.
Never had any "router bugs"
ok
you're not everyone, and time still ticks
That’s one out of the thousand models out there
and thousands of firmware
When assigning a allocation i had to set the private ip of the wings server as the ip address and the public ip as the alias.
alias does nothing
its just a string to show you it
nothing worked except for that
and that solution came from someone in the pterodactyl discord
well the first step would 100% work, if that was the issue, the alias just shouldnt do anything, the public ip alias is just for you to remember
as mentioned here https://pterodactyl.io/wings/1.0/installing.html#node-allocations, ip allocation can differ from setup to setup and thats why theres recommended commands to find what ip to use
