Getting into jewelry - looking for advice

Hi! I'd like to start wearing jewelry, I've only ever worn watches. I'm looking to get some nice simple silver necklaces, rings and bracelets. Is there anything I should know, do's or don'ts? And any brand in Europe you'd recommend. Thanks 😄

many many many options starting here https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1137088371055927416/1239614560478953506 not a lot of don'ts other than try not to wear any symbols you don't recognize without at least a cursory google/google lens search imo get a ring sizer & start slow and cheap, there are a LOT of options on ebay/etsy likely vinted, and if you live in a bigger city you are likely only tens of minutes from a market or shop with many options under 20-30 euros https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1255197478312087672/1256685370045628437 for an example ebay search to start with

ASOS has some affordable options. I'm into the faux pearl bracelets/necklaces that are popular right now.

Thanks 😄 gonna read through the thread

yep. general consensus is that designer/branded stuff tends to not be worth it - especially for silver - as you are often paying a significant premium for the branding

gotcha ty Yeah I looked it up online and I see there are like a dozen jewelry stores in my city, ive gotta go hunting :p although most options are a little bit higher in price than what you said (I'm in France maybe that's why), it's still in a reasonable range might throw in some pictures of stuff ive looked that in a sec

I'm in a mid size city not Paris but yeah I could have a look on markets too just gotta be sure it's not some aliexpress silver plated stuff lol

oh yea for sure i don't wear anything particularly nice, but the 4 rings i wear consistently i paid about ~20 USD each shipped off ebay, none of which i'm particularly worried about being junk searching for secondhand/used items tends to cut down on the amount of clearly dropshipped stuff ime

Real pearls can be pretty cheap on eBay, downside is it can be tricky to tell how good they are from the photos. IMO even the shittiest pearls are better than all but the best faux pearls

there have been previous discussions here about "rules" of wearing jewelry and there.. aren't.. really.. any.. imo it doesn't matter how many pieces you wear, of what metals, whether it's "balanced" between your hands/ears/whatever as long as it looks good

The only rule is don't buy things you can't afford

oh an addendum to the above is that some jewelry that is like, clearly inspired by or procured from indigenous people/specific ethnicities you aren't a part of you might want to be mindful of as well

ebay is deeply stupid in that it has at least 2 or 3 different subcategories for men's rings that you can't collate, but this search should provide some similar results https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=%28sterling+silver%2C+925+silver%2C+tarnished+silver%2C+ster%2C+935+silver%2C+pewter%2C+mexican+silver%29+ring+%28signet%29&_sacat=261994&_udhi=35.00&LH_ItemCondition=3000&rt=nc&Main%2520Stone=No%2520Stone&_dcat=261994 e.g. https://www.ebay.com/itm/296406571725? https://www.ebay.com/itm/145862651469 https://www.ebay.com/itm/226212307928 you can likely get any monogram blasted off by a local jeweler, and if you don't like the tarnished look i think most of these could be polished

Its nice! I got into jewelry recently as well and honestly just try some stuff on. Wearing rings (including my wedding ring) did feel a bit weird at first but you get used to it. Simple chains are cheap and a good on-ramp as well
