I want to get it right the first time…

As the title suggests I want my first real experience with DH to be the best way, just upgraded my pc (7800x3d, 7900xt, 32GB ram) I want to install the right compatible versions of everything and add the right performance enhancing mods that won’t break DH. I’m planning on playing in 1.20.1 with lithosphere terrain gen.

For the best experience you should AFK for maybe an hour ish to let a good amount of LODs generate With the CPU load preset at aggressive

Perfect Do you think 512 is a good range?

Will take a couple hours to fully generate

Or can I push it farther?

For reference a 1024 radius runs fine on my Ryzen 7600 iGPU. It all depends on your quality preset and resolution

I’m playing in 1440p and I normally keep quality presets on stock (so high ig) Unless you’re referring to DH quality settings Then idk

Your best bet is to let it generate a good amount of LODs with the CPU load at aggressive or "I paid for the whole CPU" and reduce it down to balanced when you're ready to play (it'll keep generating in the background unless you disable distant generation) As for quality settings try keeping it at medium and only increase it to high if the quality loss is too obvious

Gotcha What about mods wise?

Noisium helps with generation speeds Don't use chunky or c2me

I heard noisium is about the only generation mod that doesn’t break DH

Most worldgen mods work fine, but some of the worldgen "optimization mods" break it You can throw on terralith and tectonic if you want but it's extremely slow to generate LODs for 1024 takes nearly a week with those two on a Ryzen 7600 for reference

I’m going to stick to a lesser known gen mod called lithosphere Beautiful terrain generation imo

Is that the one by builderboy? He's in this server and I've heard it works well

That river generation is god tier @Yeshi (GMT+2) how should I go about check comparability between sodium+iris+indium with the versions of DH?
Yeshi
Yeshi4mo ago
Latest everything for 1.20.1 will work together I think If you get any errors post them here You also need fabric API for indium

Mr. Random4mo ago
I was just asking bc until July 1, indium wouldn’t work with sodium or iris I think the lastest version of fabric api always gets added to the folder in curseforge launcher
Yeshi
Yeshi4mo ago
You can't get the latest versions of sodium and indium on 1.20.1 but it doesn't matter Just get what's latest for the version you're playing

@Yeshi (GMT+2) Quick question how does DH work with servers like lets say i wanted to use it personally on an smp server. also I saw a lil something about server side DH?
Yeshi

#Server side fork exists but needs to be on both the client and the server Otherwise LODs are only generated within vanilla render distance
