Significantly Lower Performance on All Games

Hey all, I just switched from ChimeraOS to Bazzite, and I love it so far. However, performance in games is significantly less than what it was in ChimeraOS. I would get a stable 60 FPS on Chimera on Elden Ring and AC3 Remastered with no FPS drops whatsoever, and on Bazzite they both are around a max of 40, and it's pretty choppy and it drops down to 17 FPS. At one point it dropped to 2 FPS and then everything stopped working and I need to reboot my PC. I am using the HTPC Bazzite on KDE, with an AMD 7900 XT and i9 13900K. I was wondering if this is a common issue, or if the issue lies with myself and my hardware, or a bug in the software. Any kind of help is appreciated

My initial guess would be that Bazzite is using the Intel iGPU for some reason. Just a guess though, someone else might have a better idea

I thought that too, but Bazzite does recognize my GPU and it is displayed in console and steam system settings + I temporarily removed my GPU and it did not run anywhere near the 10 FPS mark in Elden Ring Ultra

I have no idea then, perhaps someone else could tune in if they have any ideas

try running a game and open mission center, see if the gpu are even utilized or not

It's composite mode in the new gamescope I think Gamescope has garbage perf unless you do no scaling and you use gpu compositing

Any way I can fix that?

Great That's why composite mode is enabled You should find your gamescope command Should be in ls -la ~ One of the files there will have cmd in the name Let's see the command to see what to remove

In a sec FPS is lower than usual on desktop, but not as low as in gamemode Game mode FPS is crazily low Nvm FPS on the desktop is actually a stable 60 Yeah game mode is having a lot of issues. - It gets stuck, like a lot, like it freezes for like 15-30 seconds, and then continues - My fans go crazy in game mode while doing literally nothing, but not in desktop. I’m not entirely sure how to create a custom fan curve in HTPC, and how it should even look like. - OS randomly reboots, it shows the steam boot video, takes me back to home, but the game is still in the background, I would just have to manually return to it through overlay. Any help is appreciated :) I really love the OS so far, game mode has just been the issue for me. Everything else is literally perfect Update: I reinstalled the OS, and the FPS in game is significantly better in game mode. All of these issues are still a problem. Could they all be related to fans and overheating? I never get the chance to view temps while it’s frozen because… well, it’s frozen Any idea how to fix the game mode restarting suddenly here? I had CPU temps on and it was 60C right before restarting.

if the games run fine in desktop mode, but not in gamemode, that implies an issue with gamemode, not CPU temps 60C is normal for CPU temp under load, at idle not so much

Yup, perfectly fine in desktop. For the record, i’m seeing an improvement to games in game mode. I’m talking about game mode itself that would have issues, whether in game or not

@Atiya Are you using video output from your GPU or the motherboard? If it is the motherboard, can you try to disable the iGPU on the BIOS and test again ? If it is on motherboard it may be an issue with the iGPU not having very good support with some gamescope features

Nope i’m using it from my GPU
