Denim Jeans: Abercrombie vs Levi's
Looking for views on the following jeans - black wash color.
https://www.abercrombie.com/shop/ca/p/90s-straight-jeans-48056349
99% cotton and 1% elastane
https://www.abercrombie.com/shop/ca/p/athletic-straight-jean-53787885
95% Cotton, 4% Polyester, 1% Elastane
I usually wear Levi's 541 (99% cotton/ 1% elastane) - the following model is not in stock https://www.levi.com/CA/en_CA/clothing/men/jeans/taper/541-athletic-taper-fit-mens-jeans/p/181810774
Questions:
(1) - Would 4% poly impact durability negatively. From limited reading that I've done - 100% cotton jeans are most durable.
(2) - Views on versatility/ utility of dark gray instead of black denim?
(3) - Any other brands I should consider (besides Uniqlo) - within ~CAD 100 price range?

Answering question 1
Adding poly doesn’t necessarily make something less durable. Dickies work pants are 60/40 cotton/poly blend. I’m currently wearing 100% polyester blend athletic shorts that I’ve had for 19 years. I’ve worn them a lot and they look the same. However, poly is used as a cost cutting measure and a lot of cheaply made clothes are poly blends. But then it might be other factors impacting the durability and not just the poly.
1: durability is generally overrated, Andrew nailed it tho
2: depends entirely on your wardrobe and vibes. Imo dark grey jeans are not versatile (or cute) but that's a combo of my tastes + wardrobe. What do you like more? What can you see fitting best in your wardrobe?
3: within $100 CAD, if you can find Wranglers around that price I'd def recommend giving them a shot
Thanks, yes, Dickies was the first thought in my mind as well (regarding polyester)
Thanks
1 - Makes sense
2 - Mainly black/ heather gray tees, sometimes white. Polos of the same colors. Navy/ Khaki Harringtons in spring/ fall and black down jacket and a parka in winters. I am kind of at the Basic Bastard wardrobe stage of wardrobe - and have just started giving some thought to adding more variety in bottoms/ footwear.
3 - Will give Wranglers a shot - no stores around to check for fits - but I've heard Walmart carries some. I assume Gap should not be in consideration set?
Might have better luck ordering online for wranglers, stores usually carry a limited selection, usually in cuts that are pretty dated at this point.
My biggest tip would be creating an inspo album for things you like, and things you'd like to wear. There really isn't a level system to all of this, so asking "which is better" is much less likely to get responses than "where can I find things that look like this for x price point?"
Thank you! Specially for the last line on the right way to ask for suggestions.
