Need help picking a suit for my wedding.

Ok, so I am not trying to break the bank here purchasing a suit but I also don’t want to spend several hundred dollars on a suit that is going to only last me a couple of years. I stumbled upon the subreddit looking at old posts talking about lot about materials, and hate for MW, which slightly overwhelmed me. I’m getting married a little before starting new full time job so I have some savings but I’m hoping to avoid spending over $500 for a suit, and the color is going to be navy/blue. I won’t wear this suit every other day, probably once a month or so until my position makes me need a more permanent suit. My Dad is a big advocate for MW and the suits there look ok, in my opinion but I have no clue on actual quality. Does a suit being 70% over 100% wool really make any difference? The one I put on in store when I went with him was the Awearness Kenneth Cole chill flex slim fit. Now, I know this is ridiculous but I like the idea of a suit meant to keep me cooler cause I tend to feel hot when in my current suit. So, I guess long story short is this quality of suit going to last me a handful of years of minimal uses? Or is the quality likely to be so poor that after a year the suit wouldn’t be in a position to be worn anymore? I still need to purchase a shirt and other stuff so not going much higher than $500 for the suit itself is the goal.

If you want to keep it under 500, spier and Mackey is a good option for sure. Have you gotten your measurements? 100% wool does make a big difference, both in the way the suit drapes and the way it feels. A poly count will make the material stiffer, shinier, and less breathable. I am not 100% against synthetic fabrics, but they are a downgrade from 100% wool for sure

I have a rough idea of the measurements based on what fit me. I want to say it was slim 36R. I don’t have actual numbers for around my shoulders but I could get it.

I’d recommend it before ordering online. wearhouse will probably have some decent suits in the price if you want to go locally. I would recommend not using their tailoring service however. It is notoriously unreliable

The issue is, most of the suits I see around for 100% wool and navy are rather shiny in the photos

Spier has 100% wool suits that are not that shiny in your price range

I guess I’ll have to go and try some 100% wool suits feel if I can find a jacket at MW Oh, I did see something that wool suits are more sensitive to high heat. How hot does it need to be for me to be worried about the suit being damaged

Bring a measuring tape What's the climate like where you're having the wedding? I think more so the issue is your comfort than the suit being damaged

The wedding itself is in Texas during winter so there isn’t a worry there. It’ll either be 30-60 degrees fahrenheit then. The concern I have is come a hot summer where it’s 100 degrees.

I wouldn't wear the same garment for 30-60 and 100 (if you can)

The wedding will mostly be inside so I don’t worry about the temperature come comfort in the cold

Spier's baseline wool is a super 110s which I think should be fine then
