super odd resource utilization with horrible framerates on pretty high end pc
i also get super weird visual bugs like weird shear lines in the ground as well as random chunks in the middle of rendered chunks being missing

specs are i9 9900k, 6700xt, 32gb 3600mhz ram
also this
lot to unpack here, lets start with the frametime graph: try turning down cpu load
for the missing chunks, those will fix itself if you wait long enough. turning up cpu load can speed that up.
for the missing trees, you probably set generation mode to surface instead of features
there's not a lot that can be done about the line in the water between normal chunks and the LODs. unfortunately. using shaders could hide it a bit but that's it.
and lastly for the circle in the last photo, thats expected behavior, vanilla chunk loading cant keep up, moving slower or tunign overdraw prevention in dh's settings can help
so there isn't much i can do to both fix the bad framerate as well as the bad chunkloading
apologies for the languate i forgot this server has that rule
you can afk for a while with cpu load at max, then turn it down
only issue with that is its kind of unstable cause i've left it running at aggressive for 5-10 mins and it usually crashes midway through
how much ram did you allocate?
i didn't change any of the ram allocation settings
then that is your problem
the default is 2 gb, which is not enough
try 10 or 12
where do i change that?
what minecraft launcher?
i change the ram allocation for mc on the launcher?
yes
how you do that depends on what minecraft launcher you are using
im just using the vanilla launcher
go to installations
hover over the instance
click edit
click more options
change the jvm arguments so that instead of xmx-2gb or smth like that, it says xmx-10gb
thank you very much
np!
i changed the gen mode to features but trees still arent rendering?
also it still crashed and seemed to max out at a usage of 6gb ram even though i set it to 15
-Xmx15G -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:G1NewSizePercent=20 -XX:G1ReservePercent=20 -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=50 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=32M
this is the exact argument that was in my launcher
also another fix that really helped was turning down sim and render distance cause i had mine at 16 and 32 respectively which was really messing with things
ah wait hold on
i seem to have found the issue with the trees
its cause this is a fresh world and i havent loaded any of these chunks before
yes, you will need to regenerate your LODs
you can do that by deleting your sqlite file
/lodstored
Single Player:
- Overworld:
.minecraft/saves/WORLD_NAME/data/DistantHorizons.sqlite
- Nether: .minecraft/saves/WORLD_NAME/DIM-1/data/DistantHorizons.sqlite
- End: .minecraft/saves/WORLD_NAME/DIM1/data/DistantHorizons.sqlite
- Custom Dimensions: .minecraft/saves/WORLD_NAME/DIMENSION_FOLDER/data/DistantHorizons.sqlite
Multiplayer:
- .minecraft/Distant_Horizons_server_data/SERVER_NAME/
for the memory thing, how much ram does your PC has?
it has 32 gb
