Shirt Pants Interaction - Topic of the day 6/23/24
It's always PSI this PSI that. YAWN. What do you consider when deciding how you want your shirt and pants to interact in an outfit?

Big shirts tucked underneath high waisted pants are pure mood.
while i typically wear high rise trousers, one thing i'm exploring is using other pieces to affect the shirt-pant interaction, like a long tie or layering of other pieces
really liked hed mayner ss25 for the shirt-pant interactions; whether tucked or not they worked with the fit and draping of each garment, especially the double hem shirts
There’s definitely pants too low but is there ever pants too high?
When your pants meet the top buttoning point of a three button suit

Satire lost in translation because he looks SO FIRE
Weirdly still don’t hate this but I suppose it would draw a lot of laughs these days
Ong I love his jacket
Yeah I love it too lol @squilliam
Unironically the French tuck is amazing
Unpopular opinion
What's that?
I Google. Ah ok
It’s not amazing when tan France does it lol
But when I do it
😉
it's a swag check for sure but i agree
French tuck
I personally like French tucking the back of a tee rather than the front
Gives the front hem a pseudo-ruched look
And doesn't feel as nerdy (to me) when your belt is fully exposed, that partial exposure is my favorite
Oooh I need to try it
I like to do it on the side for tees occasionally.
I feel like I often like it when people tuck one half of a button up shirt in, but, when I try it, it never quite works. I suspect it's because I don't really have oversized shirts.
The half tuck button up is just a hard sell so it doesn’t work in 90% of situations
I think it works better when your color palette isn’t too distracting
tucking confuses me ngl
and online resources don't seem great or im just kind of misunderstanding everything
like i employ tucking like basically 90% of the time but french tucks and half tucks seem impossible
I hate how the tuck always seems to get unraveled 😭
And i'm so confused on what elements of the shirt and pants will make the tuck look nice
one thing I often do with PSI is I like tucking my shirt in because I like showing off my belt.
I can never seem to make tucked shirts look good, which is probably due to the shirts I’m buying. Being skinny and tall I usually buy for length and get a more oversized fit which leaves a lot of material spilling over. This looks especially bad at the front where I have circled which ends up sticking out like a birds beak (I have tucked this in for the pic).
military tuck helps
Better pic
but i tend to favor stuff like oxford cloth or linen where the crags and wrinkles are expected so i don't have to try as hard lmao
I don’t find that military tuck helps
trying to decide whether or not to tuck is hellish
but i do like blousing things
Guess the only option is the gym
I think for the most part, like with wide fitting pants, it just looks off because you're looking down at it or highly attuned to it, and it really doesn't look all that bad
NO BUT SAME. SAME
i can never tell when i should or should not tuck
This goes hard
Honestly I think the move here is making the puff look more intentional or less incongruent by just trying less to make it neat
I've been enjoying high rises and tucked in shirts. But my dilemma is finding shirts that look good both tucked in and untucked. My PRL OCBDs are a bit too billowy to wear untucked, IMO. And I'm not even wearing their widest cut.
Wear wider pants 😎
This is always the answer, isn't it? :mfad:
Yes
