eggtart fit doctor

Objective - Maybe not necessarily a fit doctor but I want to use this thread to gather thoughts I have about my fits, inspirations, motivations for future reference. Seeing if anyone has any thoughts would be a nice bonus. Whether it's a fit critique, things I may not have considered, or helping me find the words to capture what I'm interested in - Motive - I graduated last year, and frankly I would like to leave most of the past behind because I've changed so much since then. I want to dress to be more authentic to myself and showcase my personality as a nonbinary guy with feminine tastes/preferences. Motifs - asymmetric details, mesh, crops, knits, sweats, pastel/soft colors City Boy https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1117803378521673768/1241899639708323862 Cozy https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1117803378521673768/1246972848690561105 https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1117803378521673768/1248749412813901966 Streetwear https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1117803378521673768/1248751979727945758 https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1117803378521673768/1248763690199814145 https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1117803378521673768/1246974070818476092 I see my style (or at least my aspirational one) in 3 archetypes and have sorted them accordingly from my inspo channel dumps. As for my actual fits, I don't think I have as much (or have experimented) I want, but I think it's a okay representation of what I'm trying to achieve rn - 2, 3, 5, 7 and 9 being particularly fits I like. I expect my wardrobe to change a lot over the year so maybe this thread isn't necessarily but it's good to get my thoughts down anyways. Tangents - I really like the city boy look but idk if it's something I necessarily feel strongly about as much as I see it as a comfortable default - The idea of "fitting" my outfits is something I have trouble with especially w/ camp collars as much as I like them for being able to play with colors, patterns and embroidery. I think fashion is ultimately aspirational/performative and I'm not sure how to make of it that camp collars can feel a bit foreign at times. It might be that something that goes away as I get used to wearing camp collars (bc I never had) - I would pick out 7 as my quintessential fit. Flower motif (graphic tee), drapery pants, silly bandana with a bigass smiley face and great color coordination - I think fits w/ skirts tend to be my favorite ones. That means they're harder to replicate but I think the "male equivalent" of that is hoodies/sweats and shorts which is lowkey already my comfort pick anyways. - bandanas are cool as fuck and the fact I can tie them to my pants or my tote bags is a GREAT way to accessorize - speaking of which I like using pins and plushies along w/ tote bags and backpacks as accessories, which is something I feel like I don't hear about much. I rly like cute stuff and I think having plushies somewhere is a big deal to me bc it exemplifies my personality directly - I honestly see myself as lacking a lot of "staples". Graphic tees, sweats/hoodies, I think there's pieces I could do with having more of (or at all) but I haven't gotten around to it yet so I'm making do for what I do have for now - https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1117803378521673768/1248751979727945758 this inspo drop is my favorite by far and I think every fit has some kind of motify/vibe I'd like to replicate. 1) jeans, cool as fuck. 3) asymmetric + interplay between grungy (?) tee and skirts. 4) favorite needles fit 5) i'm a jorts hater but this is literally so cool 6) i don't rly like leather jackets but i like how it's being styled here and would like to replicate it 7) my absolutely favorite fit. leg warmers are cool. also warmed me up to wearing zipped hoodies again, i mean how fucking cool is everything here. 8) a vibe 9) chill, tonal, i should get a crossbody bag

Might have more to say later, but for now… I think it’s ok to like the idea of something (like camp collars) and then try it and not really vibe with it and either abandon the idea or “save it for later” I’ve done this tons of times with certain garments or colours or whatever, I just prefer to focus on things that spark joy rather than work extra hard for something that doesn’t

regarding the camp collar, perhaps it's not that you like camp collar shirts but that you like the singular embroidered one, as it may speak to you or represent you in some way one thing i noticed is there's a lot of oversized (?) dress shirts in your inspo albums; if you're looking for a staple that may be an option as you can wear it with all three archetypes

i brought a striped shirt off ebay but i don't like how it fits and idk if im not used to it or it's just that specific item i think its too hot anyways rn but i might just go find some to try on irl i think camp collars are just the most accessible way to get the details i like

That’s fair. No camp collar fits in your inspo though (my opinion is that it’s because camp collars are weak) Fit pics of that striped shirt would also help

I think it looks good in that context. What about buttoned up with sleeves uncuffed? I think you could probably go even larger if you wanted to push it more towards Popeyes magazine cityboy territory

I like the shirt, just gonna mention some things that differ from your inspo. The collar is laying flat. You might consider starching it or something so it stands up. It’s also long but not as wide as the city boy inspo. The fabric is also softer/thinner and doesn’t drape in the same way.

This shirt might have a stiffer draping fabric that’s giving it that greater volume compared to yours Beans and I on the same wavelength for sure

awburkey2w ago
Yeah the fabric isn’t giving you the structure that gives the super wide look

I honestly wouldn’t know. Maybe a poplin or broadcloth? I’d have to feel the fabric to say for sure either way

I’d peak at some brands from the fits if possible and see what shirts they sell and what the fabric is I’ll also say your shirt looks like a thrifted dress shirt to me. The cityboy ones have a more aggressively wide and cropped cut I think it can be styled well. Again just pointing out what I see that’s different from your inspo pics

Yeah thrifting is a fine option . Don’t be shy to pick through the XXL section either Floral motifs are common Chunky streetwear necklace could work Something softer/daintier is also possible I’d try something cheap and see if you vibe with it before spending bigger amounts on accessories.

https://017shop.ca/collections/mens-jewelry/Necklace I like how 017shop does their styling and they have some pretty good budget options to get your feet wet. Not necessarily high quality stuff but that’s not the point

Your pants aren't baggy enough Im meming a little here but i look at your inspo and its a ton of small top big pants and you don't have jeans that are baggy enough to match it you can layer shirts/jackets over tanks, just wear fitted shirts/baby tees with super baggy jeans and you'll hit a lot of the vibes i notice in a lot of your inspo sweater with skirt (which in your case I'd assume you'd use shorts) is also common, but ngl thats something that is more common in inspo than irl (cause people don't tend to wear shorts on days they wear sweaters) espicially since you aren't gonna use leg warmers like a bunch of the girls are could prob copy it by schoosing to reach for oversized tees then lot of these fits are actually pretty simple so start trying to nail that vibe like the jacket over a tube top you wanna reach for shirt/jacket over tank, for a tube top or crop top alone try a baby tee or fitted tee, when you do this use big pants and chunky shoes aim to match the siholutte of your inspo and if you are wearing shorts try wearing something oversized up top invert it its a theme i see in the inspo if you can get like an lightweight oversized long sleeve to match with your shorts even better a mesh oversized shirt can be perfect there basically your inspo is using exaggerated silhouettes and you aren't idk how much you wanna jump in the deep end with the gender stuff so i gave suggestions to make it more masc, obv you can be closer to the og inspo if you don't care about wearing baby tees/crop tops/etc also don't be afraid to wear a tank with nothing over it as well and ya, i agree with shelving the button ups for a bit

honestly maybe in the future but i have a lot more other things i want to figure out before leg warmers :xd: feels like womenswear have more options for manipulating silhouette, like i've seen knits that you wear on your arm and it just kinda hangs off them but they aren't actually on your back idk the actual word for those or like equivalent arm warmers

This is true but your inspo isn't using this much so it's not important

Hmm I mean when I say that I just think like dresses and skirts nothing dramatic But there's def male equivalents as you mentioned I will investigate baby tees
