Alden Shoes
I'm interested in possibly picking up a pair of derbys from Alden and I just wanted to see if people can attest to the new production shoes who have them and if they're worth the hefty price tag

Alden shoes are very well made. They're still manufactured in New England. I bought a pair from the store in DC two years ago and they're still in impeccable shape. They are not cheap but their reputation for quality is well deserved
I have a couple of pairs of loafers, which I love. I would never pay full price for them, though. If you pay close enough attention, some models will be 30% off occasionally at third party retailers like JCrew and Todd Snyder. You can also find them cheaper lightly used on eBay. Of course, helps to make sure you know your fit first.
Still great. The stuff you read online is generally selection bias - you can find horror stories for pretty much any brand.
You pay for Alden and get good quality. If you want top tier finishing expect to pay a good bit more
