If vlc source plays it fine, then probably an issue with dependencies that obs media source uses. Best to report here https://github.com/obsproject/obs-studio/issues

Saw the report. Curious how it will be responded to. I totally forgot to test vlc source myself a couple weeks ago when I dropped an av1 file into media source and media source CHOKED HARD

Okay it’s a duplicate/known issue.
Back to HEVC for recording.
Or I guess I could just switch my sources to VLC and stick with AV1
I think I am going to switch back to HEVC for now.
While VLC does work, there’s no hardware decoding, so it’s using a lot of my CPU
